The powers that be arbitrarily moved me to another squad. At first I was "irked", then realized the opportunities for OT are unlimited. I also was asked to work the holiday for OT.

Oh yeah baby, $$$

This day keeps getting better!

Been chatting with a girl I had a crush for like 4 years back when we were 12. :)

I asked her out but she said no, I got over it and she wished me a great birthday, it made my day yesterday so I started chatting with her. :D

Talking memories, time goes by to soon.. :(

Put a pair of outer tie-rod ends in the PT from Hell yesterday. Turned the little car from feeling like a worn-out piece of junk on its last legs into a smooth, solid, noise-free ride. Measured the rod ends carefully, and installed carefully, compensating for the 5.5mm difference in length. No alignment necessary, tracks straight, wheel centered.

Also put the lie to the $800+ she'd been quoted (by several "mechanics") to replace the wheel bearings, CV joints, lower balljoints and a rebuilt steering rack...which the other guys said were all worn out and dangerous. Did the whole job in about an hour, $55 parts.

How-To-Facebook-Like-Your-Google-Search. I hate the parasites that prey on the naive. Well done. This pleases me today.

I have a great mechanic. Good ole boy that I've become friendly with.

Over the summer my wife saw an ad offering an a/c recharge for a bargain price. The place was right near her work so she took it there without telling me. They charged the system and put dye in it. Then they told her she need $1000 in front end work! She called me and I told her to get out of there. I took it to my guy, he went over the whole front end... no problems!

The next weeks she took it back there for the dye test results. They told her she needed an evaporator and wanted $800. Um, nope!

What pleased me today is that I was "out and about" with my better half today, and at lunch we stopped at Portillo's for some good food like Chicago style hot dogs and burgers and fries of course. This is the 2nd Wednesday in a row that I've been to Portillo's for lunch and I'm wondering if it's going to become a habit???

Portillo's!?!?!? I officially hate you, Nick. Portillo's is one of my favorite places to eat. Bummer they don't have a place in FLA. Hopefully I'll be able to get a beef sandwich when I'm in St. Charles, IL in May.

Went for a job interview today, and it's about 85-90 percent certain that I'm hired! I desperately want to get back to a working enviroment so this is very welcome :D

Crazyjim, there's a Portillo's in St. Charles also as I've been there a few times. Only ONE beef sandwich?

The St. Charles one is the one I usually go to, it's the closest to home and is also "on the way home from work"...........if I go home the "right way" ;)

That's the one I plan to hit in May. The plan also calls for taking 5 1 pound packs of beef, gravy, and bread as baggage on the airplane trip home.

I left Sunday to spend a few days with my Mom in Grand Rapids, MI and then over to Rockford, IL for a ViêtNow board meeting. Got home last night. Finally, I was able to get into the shop today. FELT GREAT!

I mentioned yesterday that we rescued a cat from the SPCA. In case anyone was wondering, here's Pierre, posing with Mrs. Corvair Jim (my beautiful Rose, someone that I'm thankful for EVERY day!) last night - I hadn't been able to upload the pic to Photobucket when I made the post:

(Sorry about the lousy cell phone pic - She wanted to text the photo to our daughter right away!)

What pleased me? We got a rescue cat from the SPCA. He's a real sweetheart, very playful and loving. It's hard for me to understand how someone could turn in such a wonderful animal.

They may not have had a choice. The cat's previous family could have lost their home, and their ability to care for the cat. They could have become too ill to care for the cat. The previous owner may have passed away, and the next of kin may not have had the ability to care for the cat. Personally, I'm glad the cat was brought to a shelter to have a chance to be adopted by kind folks like you, and not abandoned on the street the way some people will do.

What pleased me today? Strangely enough, the bad weather in New York. In my household, weekend mornings tend to be almost as hectic as weekdays, what with the errands, appointments and the kids' activities. This morning, the kids' activities were cancelled, and none of the errands seemed important enough to have to deal with the Ken Block wannabes that think they can drive like rally drivers when there is a layer of ice all over the roads. We all stayed in this morning, everybody had a nice hot cup of coffee or tea, and I got to make pancakes for the family, something I rarely get to do these days.
