My new issue of MCM came with just a little damage on the rear cover.

Mine too!  No damage!   I was concerned since this was the first copy of my subscription, I didn't know how quick it would kicked in and if I'd have to go buy this issue.  I finally got tired of running to the hobby shop to see if the new issue was in.

The highlight of my day.... I bought tickets for Counting Crows!   August 29th in New Jersey.   Can't wait!

Counting Crows are still together?!!!

Man, I thought they threw in the towel many years ago. Live and learn, I guess... ;)

A little girl about 7 smiled and waved at me and yelled "HI!" as i drove by her and her mother getting in their car.

I'd been in a crabby mood from the idiot can't-count moron at McD's, but the little girl kinda made my day.

Kids are great. A free smile and a "hi" for no reason whatsoever.:D

Headin' out to sit on the front porch with a big ol' root-beer float and listen to the crickets. Warm night, cool float...really takes me back to being a kid.

Simple pleasures are still the best in my humble opinion.

18 piece swing band? Now that would be cool instead of the usual canned music at a cruise night. It ain't got a thing if it ain't got that swing...

Ed's spectacular lightning photo above. Man. Nice. Remarkable getting the exposure at just the right moment of maximum intensity. You must have a really quick shutter finger, sir.:D

Oh, I'm quick all right. Prefocus Lens and leave it on Manual, ISO for this shot 320 although 200 works fine, F-Stop was 5.6 and Exposure (quick finger , Yea:rolleyes:) was 30 Seconds. I throw away LOADS and Loads of useless images.

Bill I'm glad you enjoyed the Shot. It started a small fire that I'll be looking for smoke from for the next few days, although it looked like it might have gotten soaked pretty well by a latter cell.

Yeah, it's been warm here the last couple of days... I've been enjoying my pool and otherwise staying inside w/ the A/C down low...

I don't know how you guys survive in this 100 degree plus heat.  When I see numbers like 115 I just cringe!

When it hits the 90s here in the NJ/PA area, my company will send out Heat Advisory emails, asking everyone to shut down all unnecessary electrical usage to help the electric company avoid outages!  If it hits 95, that's major news and they close schools and businesses. I guess at 95 you guys go out and do yard work?

It will be 92 today and I have the pool temp set at 90, so I will send the day sipping beers in the pool!

My yard guys mowed the lawn around 10 am yesterday when it was still cool..only around 105 then.   Living in Az one has to suspend disbelief about what constitutes 'warm'.  I look forward to the 'cool' weather in late October when the highs are in the 90s again.   It's all kind of surreal.

Finally completed weeding the property.  Trees are trimmed and several new plants from a neighbor are in the ground.  I'm done with yardwork - until Tuesday when the grass will need cutting again.  And then I'll start the weeding process all over again.

Yea, the weeds here in PA are ferocious!  Weed a garden and by midweek all kinds of stuff has popped up.  Miss it for two weeks and all the bare dirt is covered!

Tom, ya have to try the product called Pro Deuce. It will help with your weed problem I promise. Simple to use and works great ! Been using it here for about 4 years. I spray the yard once a year when The weeds start popping up through the rocks ( Arizona yard ) and I am done for the year. Did you ever try to weed in the gravel ? Not fun.

Thanks Ray but I have too many small perennials and seasonal bulbs that pop up to do a mass spray thing.  I see the fall stuff starting to pop up.  My mums from last year seem to have survived and are just starting to bloom.  I didn't get a great start this year with the yard.  My wife had surgery this spring which kept me from doing the yard chores as I needed to.  We didn't even get the pool opened up until after July 4 weekend!  Rough year here.

Sounds like today.

I was out collecting signatures to get on the ballot for Marlborough's City Council Ward 4 Councillor, and this little girl, maybe about 3 or 4, dressed in a unicorn costume opened the door very shyly and then smiled when I said, "hi, is Mommy or Daddy home?" She grinned and ran to get Daddy.

Sometimes, I really do miss not having had children, but given how the first part of adulthood went, in a very real sense, I'm thankful I didn't, I wouldn't have wanted to subject them to the wild work/income swings I had to experience, averaging out to approximately half the poverty line.

What pleased me was yesterday, actually.

It took a little bit to get it together, but I had a very nice late 40th party with several friends I grew up with that I don't get to see enough, some other friends and my parents. It felt good to have everyone around.

Ed, please keep those pictures coming. I like them all. Always makes me smile...
