What makes me happy is the good news I've seen.

Jim and Ray- may good health be here to stay for a long time for both of you.

Ed- your pictures are inspiring, especially those sunrises, and that orange one was spectacular!

Joe- you got out of the hobby shop and I got into one. Good luck with your new position.

Charlie Larkin

Charlie, I'm happy to be a positive part of your Day.

Thought share this here too...

Well it's been some time since I felt like doing in kind of model building. June 10, I crashed my motorcycle which cause this.

Dog walks in front of van and trailer, van stops I can't. Driver is so sorry, dog wonders what all the excitement is about and I get a ticket! Gotta love the system.

th_IMG_3448.jpg This could have been a whole lot worse, but thankfully instinct kicked in and I'm sure the good LORD did what HE does too, of which I'm grateful!

It's now been three weeks since the surgery and tonight I tried a little sanding and filling. Not to bad! The MoJo is coming back....

Another great MCCM meeting this last night. Low on the number of people and models shown. But, a great time at the meeting itself, and at Perkins restaurant afterwords.

Another nice pic, Ed.  I've been ordering from Hobbylinc for several years and never had a problem.  Ever order earns points towards a discount.  They're prices are pretty decent.  I think they're actually cheaper than the other big name online vendors.

Thank's Jim. My intent was to just get some Styrene for Fabbing and ended up also getting 2 Kits (Meyers Manx) for 11.15 EA! These are the first Kits I've ordered in Years from any Place other than Fred's Model World and at a Price for F/S'd that was as good as Freds. Granted their general prices aren't that low but you are right in general they'll be as good or better than the other options. Seems their downside is Shipping Date, but given I'm not in any hurry it's no poblem for me. As far as points go I've no idea. My Comfirmation sez I have over 2000 Points....... So..

Well, the other day I lost the left eye glass lens for one of my glasses. I figured it must be around my desk at work but I couldn't find it. Well, today I found it!

I made 4 sales calls with my boss today and was hoping for the best as it has been an up and down month with a soft start. Really need some new or additional business to get things rolling in my territory and today's calls were purposely set to to achieve just that!

Well, of the four calls, two of them resulted in new business and one will be increasing their business. The fourth one was unable to meet but will consider us, so it was a great day. The boss is happy, I am happy and the customers are happy, so it was a win-win-win!

Congrats. Now if you can just figure out a way to make the poor ba-tards who have to USE the parts happy, life will be all rainbows and unicorns. ;)

Yeah, that seems to be the difficult part Bill. I have moved on to selling shop consumables after having sold replacement parts for 20 years and the atmosphere is quite different. I represent a company known for it's quality and higher prices, so unfortunately I tend to hear the phrase "You have some great products, but they are kinda expensive".It's funny how a tech will spend $1.99 for a cheap can of brake cleaner and use twice as much and not have a problem with it but can't wrap his head around using my brake cleaner that is $2.89 and goes almost twice as far! I have learned that it is not easy educating ignorant people. A lot of them also struggle with the concept that I am their business partner and can offer solutions that the cheapo 1-800 number guy can't/won't. One of my successes yesterday was a dealership parts manager who "gets" the service proposition we offer because it makes his techs much happier having product that works and makes their life easier.

Man, do I understand your predicament exactly. It makes your job so much easier when you occasionally DO meet a shop manager who gets that simple idea. A lot of shop owners and managers I've known over the years will stay away from Wurth products, for instance, citing the high cost. But after I encountered one of Wurth's remarkable spray lubricants that fixed a sticking throttle problem that NOTHING I'd tried over the course of a year would cure (on my own vehicle that I test everything on before using it on a client's), I've had an open mind about paying more for consumables that actually work.

A good shop manager should be able to easily break out what he's paying for those consumables monthly anyway, and divide the cost to add a fair percentage to every ticket that goes through. That way, of course, the shop isn't actually paying anything for stuff that works, as it's passed on to the clients...who in some cases get quicker turnaround and a better repair for a smaller final bill. Faster turnaround and fixes that stay fixed practically guarantee a shop full of cars, and referrals from happy owners. Quality consumables aren't the whole answer, but they certainly help.

This is one of those places where a manager who used to be a tech can often make better informed product purchase decisions than someone who only buys based on his perceived short-term bottom line, and who has no experience of the difference between actually USING cheapo stuff as opposed to something pricier that really does the job.

Kind of a pleased and irked...I stumbled upon a hobby shop today that I didn't know existed, alas, they are closed on weekends (summer hours).

Frank's Hobby House at 32nd and Cactus.  Looks like a lot of R/C through the windows, don't know what their model car selection is like...will have to check back sometime when they are open.

Thanks Bill. My first of the season. I generally keep from 10 - 50 each year. They're really not all that hard to do if your Camera has Manual settings. Just preset Shutter,/F-Stop,ISO snd Prefocus the Lens and set it to Manual. Then wait. Lightning is a multiple event, so if everything is preset and you're pointed in the right direction when the Lightnng happens all you need to do is hit the Shutter release and hope you caught it. If not, well try try again! Oh yea if one hasn't the sence to know if Lightning is Danger Close - PLEASE Do Not try to photograph it.
