Well? How did it go at the job fair? did you mop the floor with the competition and come out on top? 🤞

Ok so my hopes were up waaaaaaaaaay to high; for this particular job fair. First off, the summer jobs we applied for weren't even there; I ran around for half an hour in disbelief looking for the MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) stations but there weren't any. It was also extremely hecktic; the halls and exhibits were backed up the wazoo, and scootin' by people was insane (way too many people were obliviously standing around).

BUT that being said I took advice from one of the profs and personally emailed one particular resume to the manager of the summer job I am most interested in, and the manager emailed back thanking me for sending it to him. I was hoping to put a face to the name at the job fair, but like I said, they weren't there, but at least I got my resume out front, (in order to apply we have to send it in on a website, which I did but I changed a couple things so I figured to keep up to date I better send it to the manager personally) so I am one step ahead (hopefully) of everyone else.

I though it was going to be a nerve racking afternoon getting the school kids home due to a snow storm that passed through New England. However, the roads well well treated, the temps went up a few degrees and it switched to all rain. The runs went more smoothy than I though.

SNOW DAY NO SCHOOL

Side note: the winds are like 60km, and I have a '58 Olds hubcap hung on the side door of my grandma's garage, and it has been known to fall off when windy, but surprisingly it's still hangin' there. Funny how it falls of with the slightest breeze but then when the 60km winds roll in it stays hung.

More snow here and cold temps - What pleased me about that ? My wife informed me next February our son will be stationed in Florida after 6 yrs of being out of the US. She said shes gonna send me there next February so she doesn't have to listen to my rumblings 😄

That's awesome Les. Back in the early 80's my girlfriend, now my wife went to see them at the Capitol Center here in MD. I believe Blackfoot opened for them. Very energetic show.

Glad he's back in the states, Sean. If you go, take those projects that need painting yet, nicer weather than what your having now. But remember at some point you have to go back home..lol I appreciate your sons service to our country.

My wife always remembers what I was wearing when we met at a birthday party back in 1982; a black AC/DC t-shirt.

I "inherited" the '66 SS396 Chevelle project I'm currently finishing up after the poor thing was bodged beyond belief by some very well-paid "car builders".

The custom stainless fuel tank was just one of a multitude of things that I've had to correct.

Yes, the welds are nice and it's shiny, but the good part stops there.

It's poorly designed in general and stupid small, with misplaced baffles and no sump for an EFI pump pickup (anything with 750 honest dynoed HP needs proper tank baffles and/or a sumped tank).

There are more problems with the tank I won't bother to go into, but the major one has been developing a fuel pickup system that compensates for the lousy tank design.

The car is in the "pro touring" style, with fabbed IFS, massive brakes, and wide sticky tires capable of developing impressive lateral-acceleration and stopping numbers, so again, a proper fuel pickup system is imperative.

Part of the solution is a Holley HydraMat, but getting it to work with the existing tank outlet has been quite the endeavor.

In the end, my solution is relatively simple, is based on aircraft and road-race practice and some rather obscure plumbing hardware pieces from quite a variety of sources...but it took a lot of head-scratching to get there.

Problem solved, 90% engineering done (I'll complete it when I have all the bits in hand to make certain everything fits and plays nice together), fixing to order all the parts right now.  B)

Week 2 since my TV laid an egg and I don't miss it. That valuable real estate where the squawk box used to sit will be used to display built kits or something along that line.

I went and saw the new 'Becoming Led Zeppelin' documentary in IMAX.  Was a great experience.

What was not so great is this morning after having a coating of ice and then snow yesterday, I swept the snow off my Jeep, let the defroster run 20 min or so to de-ice the windshield, when I turned on the wipers to clean off the slush a big crack appeared across the windshield.  It is 11 years old and had one small rock chip.  Oh well.   Time to cue the 'safelite repair, safelite replace' jingle...(once it warms up).

Became a gall father today.

just got back from the school again today with a goldenrod stem that has a bulbous gall on it in which some sort of bug is waiting to emerge so now we gotta take care of them for a few months until they hatch so to speak.

Experienced "Fish tailing" today for about the third time since I've been drivin'. It's actually somewhat fun but better obviously when no other cars around. Did it while comin' down my grandma's long driveway. Mind you I almost hit the snow bank and took out a post but since I avoided doing that, it was fun.

That's how I learned to drive in the snow, empty parking lot, rear wheel drive and have fun. Do it enough and it becomes second nature.

Yep..my first couple years of driving I didn't drive in snow (high school in S. Florida, summers in Ohio).  I still remember the winter of '88-89 learning to drive in snow....  I took my '86  Mustang LX w/ snow tires out into snow covered empty parking lots--rear drive, manual, sliding around, doing donuts...

My driveway this afternoon was covered in ice, has a slight slope, turned off the traction control when I pulled in and managed to drift my 5000lb Jeep down the driveway...heh heh...

It's Friday and the school kids will be off next week. I won't be doing anything then except enjoy the peace and quiet. I won't be getting paid but I still have plenty of the cash that I made last November in my bank account to cover my expenses and then some. Meanwhile, the mechanics will be checking over the busses including mine to see how well the stood up to the winter thus far.

I had oral surgery yesterday and the pain today is nowhere near what I expected, low enough to leave the pain pills in the medicine cabinet...

I just finished up with all that. So worth it in the long run.
