Calb56 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Been putting it off but finally finished it. Now I have the light kit to put in... 1
HomerS Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Dr called in an Rx for pain med at 9a today until she can get in to see the neurologist. Walgreen's having no sense of urgency sends her a text at 2p it's ready. By the time I get Frank (dachshund) in his crate and a few other things its 2:20p so I make the ten minutes drive. One car ahead of me in the drive through (judging by the number cars in the parking lot it would be too peoplely inside). Few minutes later, I roll up....."Oh we're just finishing it up, should be another 5-10 minutes" Seriously? I told the young lady its no problem, put the car in park, put the tinted window back up and turned the stereo back on! I'm not driving around or going to do something as you texted her 30 plus minutes ago. About 90 seconds later, oh look the little ray of sunshine is back with my Rx. Wow...I seriously just channeled my father on this one! I still have a pact with a neighbor that if either of us catch the other mowing the grass in black socks and sandals, just take that person out! No warning shot!! 1 1
stavanzer Posted August 2 Posted August 2 A Bittersweet Pleasure today. My Dad would have turned 88 today. He's been gone now about 23 months. I think about him all the time. I miss Him, but I'm glad he's not fighting the Alzheimer's anymore. He turned me on to model building. He built plastic kits in the Navy in Japan. For years I had an old Revell Hospital Ship that he had built. I should go get one and build it is his honor. I miss You, Dad. 6
89AKurt Posted August 3 Posted August 3 What pleased me, is being involved with the auto club more than ever. I think of one Charter member as a dad, mine passed last century and I still think about him. It helps to have father figures in your life. Being one is way harder. 😅 This weekend is our big car show, I know people, could park Fakerri overnight here. Normally no way. Blue Cloud is running like a champ, helped with set-up. Paid off getting up before the sun, to get a primo parking spot to keep an eye on while working the Water booth. Didn't get much time to watch spectators. 6

I was just getting to know him as a person and not just a force of God. I'm now significantly older than he ever was and yet I still feel like a child when I think of him. 2
Rob Hall Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Still miss my Dad, been gone since Christmas 1999, when I was only 29. I wish I had spent more time with him as an adult..I was busy in my 20s away at college and grad school, then 2000 miles away establishing my career... 1

My dad would have been 100 on July 27th had he lived. That was a mile marker he really wanted to make but he passed at 98 1/2. The Hospital ship would definitely be a cool build to remember your Dad by with every minute you work on it and when it's displayed. My dad wasn't a model builder but he did build a few airplane kits that represented airplanes produced by Martin Marietta where he was employed for a period of time. I still have two of those that survived the years. Edited August 3 by A modeler named mike 2
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I woke up this morning. Anniversary OF my heart attack in 2014. About 8:30 am I started having troubles breathing and thought it was asthma attack. Called my sister and she called 911. The ER doctor said that they didn't think I was going to make it. Last year i got a pacemaker and it has recently logged 2 events I probably wouldn't have survived without it. Definitely pleased to still be around. My sister teases me I got the extended warranty. 3

Engine 51 Posted Wednesday at 09:07 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:07 PM Getting yet another broken tooth fixed. Had to deal with it for almost a week, sharp as a razor. Not one bit fun. 3

Ace-Garageguy Posted Friday at 02:41 AM Posted Friday at 02:41 AM 1) My house didn't burn down, (see the "irked" thread). 2) Tigger, the entirely tame outdoor feral cat who usually runs to greet my truck when I come in at night, and who's waiting on the porch for breakfast every morning when I get up, was limping a little earlier in the week. Yesterday he was walking on 3 feet, and his LF paw was visibly swollen. He let me pick him up and look at it, and I could see an infected puss-running sore. I cleaned it out with alcohol as much as I could (had to hold him by the scruff of the neck with one hand while working the alcohol bottle and pad with the other hand), and today he's much better, walking on it again and not even favoring it much. He looks a lot like this guy, just a garden variety tabby, with a little more orange. Most laid back, calm tomcat I've ever known. 7
John M. Posted Friday at 02:05 PM Posted Friday at 02:05 PM (edited) Another three day weekend for me again. The summer camp my school bus company services is bringing in the final batch of new campers for orientation so it's closed for today. However, we drivers will get paid for it. One of my job's perks. 🙂 Edited Friday at 02:05 PM by John M. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted Friday at 11:36 PM Posted Friday at 11:36 PM WHOOPEE!!!!!! Turns out the power strip I had the desktop, its monitor, and the landline phone base-unit on WAS surge-protected, and it valiantly gave its life to save the machines that relied on it from the electrical debacle yesterday. All three work 100%. Before giving it a decent burial with full military honors, I think I'll take it apart so as to better understand just exactly HOW it fried... Unfortunately, the power strip the vintage high-end stereo amp was on was just a power strip. The power strip survived, but the amp is toast (maybe repairable if it's only the power-supply section)... I've located a brandy-new Sony unit with similar power and all the inputs and outputs I need locally, for not insane money, but I seriously doubt it'll last as long or sound as good as the dead one. 3

Well that's a relief, I hope that your stereo is fixable, they don't make them like they used to. 1 1

89AKurt Posted yesterday at 04:46 AM Posted yesterday at 04:46 AM I have been polishing some of the Chopper. Masked a section in the middle of the frame, to test polish the paint, might do the whole bike. Used Blue Magic to polish the rusty rims, and my stainless steel chain guard. So I'm pleased to improve this old bike without spending big bucks. It's fun to have at cruise nights and car shows. I'm tempted to see if disk brakes can be restomodded. 😏 2
