Thanks guys! This was 2 years ago... the nested on the bend in the rain leader. There's an L in the house there, so we could take pictures from an upstairs window.

This was last year... right on the window sill. Couldn't have had a better view.

And right before they took off.

Slowly but surely, the pieces seem to be coming together on a new AM venture (not automotive related) I'm putting together, and that pleases me immensely.

I just got word this afternoon that Portillo's will be building a new restaurant 'bout 7 miles from my house and plans to open this November. That's kinda pushin' it, but it can be done. Plan is to hire 200 workers, and sorry to say that they won't hire me, as I would eat up all their profits. Oh well. I should watch my youthful (?) figure.

Heard about that too and am glad that I moved away from the area 10 years ago, otherwise I would probably have already had open heart surgery! I always stop at Portillo's when I am back in Chicago and I have a few friends who love to send me pictures of a Chicago dog or their delish Beef Sammich!

I too send food pics to my buddy in the Denver area who is a Chicago native, and he used to bring home on the airplane beef sandwiches and hot dogs when he came back to Chicago to visit his mom.

Mom should finally be coming home from the nursing facility she is currently in tomorrow!!!!! Between 3 of these facilities and the hospital, she's been gone for a loooooooong 3 1/2 months and Dad has been by her side the whole time (many times, literally days at a time!), my Sister and I were there when ever we had a day off or got out of our jobs early enough to not conflict with their visting hours. It'll be nice to have her home, and we'll all probably pass out from exhaustion shortly after we get her situated too!

I was pleased to go to my meeting of the Tri-State Scale Model Car Club today!

Due to the nice weather, attendance was small but that was a good thing. We all sat around one long table, got some food and had a meal and one conversation. It was really nice!

Afterwards we went to Avenel Hobbies, which is closing by the end of this month. Owner Randy was friendly and thanked us all for many years of patronage. That part was sad. I bought some nice stuff, which I will show tomorrow in the "What I got today" thread as soon as day light allows me to take photos.

And that irks me that it hasnt rained here today

It's all a matter of perspective I guess. June was the highest recoded rainfall ever, here in St Louis, but at the same time, California is dry as toast, and the millionaires are stealing water.

My wife forgot her purse in a shopping cart this afternoon and a man found it and brought it to our house (a 6 mile round trip for him).

Made a new friend.
