Good on ya Mike, Akron has to be one of the worst municipalities to deal with.

Now through up some insulation and drywall that space, your gonna need some heat!

Heat? Exactly what will happen to the car if it's not in a heated garage? I've been drivin' for 50+ years and never had a car in a heated garage and things seem just fine. Some of my vehicles have been outside during the winters with no ill effects either.

I've had rat-sign in the back shop attached to the house for a few weeks, ever since workers tore down some old buildings up the street to put in a new gas station. Poor little critters been looking for new homes. It didn't bother me too much until i noticed they'd chewed through the door seal at the passage to the shop from the hobby room. Then I found the dragged-away-and-licked-clean plate of Christmas cookies I thought I'd misplaced in my dotage...and I noticed they'd been in one of the bookcases and had started shredding. I love my books.

OK rats, that's enough. I used to catch them in Havahart live-traps and release the little buggers in the woods, but I just don't have any patience with mindless destruction anymore. Those old-school Victor snap-traps work a treat if you put 'em right in the middle of an obvious run. Caught 3 since 7:00 PM this evening. Dead as bricks.B)

Anyone else notice that the Havahart trap is designed to fit sideways into a standard garbage pail so you can fill it up with water and drown the little suckers?!

My inlaws in Henderson usually see what we do, eventually.

Heck you may even get snow over there!

It's snowing quite heavy at altitudes over 5000 ft as we speak. Mt Charleston has a foot of snow now and Red Rock is seeing white stuff in the higher elevations as well.

Still too warm at my place. I'm in Henderson too, Anthem Parkway and Reunion area. I'm at about 3000 ft.

Way back in the late 70's, when I was in high school, I started saving cereal toys (Premiums). Most came from Capt'n Crunch and Cookie Crisp. The idea was that I would give to my kids later on in life. As it worked out, I missed raising kids that would have been of the age to appreciate the little prizes that were kept in an old NGK trade show bag. I had pretty much forgotten about it until the other day when my brother in law was helping get the garage straightened out.

There was the bag in with a bunch of model stuff. He has kids 3 and 7 so I gave it to him. After a while he gave it back saying he would rather not pick up the mess it would make. Then my wife said she would take it for her elementary school students. However, when she looked through the bag she had such a rush of nostalgia that she decided to keep them. She tossed the bag in the laundry room.

I picked it up tonight and started researching the value of what was in there. I found a glow in the dark Capt'n Crunch skeleton that was going consistently for 20.00 on eBay out of the wrapper. I found 5 in the wrapper. That was best set. I just finished going through the entire bag. It was a lot of fun using the internet to track down the origin of a lot of the toys. At full e-bay prices it was about 500 bucks worth of toys. If I get 250, I'll be happy.

Cool!

Raining like an SOB here.  Been drizzly all day with occasional showers and sporadic rain.  Raining harder all evening.  Streets filled with water and the washes getting busy.

As with most collectibles the stuff from before everyone started saving everything are worth money since they are pretty rare.  It's like the original 1968 Hot Wheels cars still in the packaging.  Recent stuff, like the past 20 years, will never be worth much because everyone saved multiple copies of everything thinking they could make a profit in the future.

A funny story.... My wife used to manage a child care center at a supermarket that watched kids while you shopped. She would have lunch at the nearby McDonalds and with her small appetite she'd always get a Happy Meal.  She'd get the prizes and give them away to the kids there.   One day she offered one to a child who immediately put the sealed unit right into his backpack.  All the other kids would rip it open and play with it, so she asked him if he liked it.  He said he liked it just fine but his father always took them from him and his sister and put them away for the future! So he was dutifully taking it home to turn over.  Imagine kids who never got to play with the toys?

My Camera is finally back from the Camera Doctors Office (where it spent Christmas and New Years.....). This is my first shot of the Year. Taken ~30 paces from where I'm now sitting.
