Tom Geiger Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Enjoy those grand kids! My daughters are 26 and 30 and neither has gotten married or had any kids yet. We are almost the only ones of our friends that don't have grand kids yet!
peter31a Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Hey, Tom. That almost seems like a good thing. You can't say you're a gramps yet so it makes you seem younger. The minute someone says they're a grandparent I almost automatically add 10 years to their age in my head. One of my co-workers had he's first grandchild when still in his 40's and even though he is younger than me I feel like he's older than me now….. Hhmm… I guess that's saying more about me than anything else isn't it….

Poor breeding practices at best!
James2 Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Bleeding Brake!!! I rebuilt the front master cylinder on my 1979 FLH last week. For the life of me I could not get it to bleed out, I tried everything I could think off. Yesterday I took it completely apart and started over, honed the cylinder and changed the fluid. So far so good I think I got it. Very frustrating to say the least! But I'm pleased to have it behind me...

Tom Geiger Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Finished painting another room in my sisters new place. Another bedroom , bathroom and kitchen yet to go. Ray! That's why you're not building. You have a project! Don't worry, as soon as this all settles down you will be back to building. I find that when I have a big project --- creative or otherwise, work or otherwise, my brain is full of project so it doesn't wander off to model car projects.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Almost everything I needed at the grocery store was on sale, "buy one, get one free", and the store lets you have just one for half-price. I saved enough just in one trip to buy a model. Gotta love it.
Harry P. Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I drove downstate today to see my daughters. One lives in Champaign, the other in Urbana. We had brunch, and they are both doing well. Older daughter just turned 28, so the lunch was for her... younger daughter (25) has a 6-month old boy (my first grandchild) who is about as cute as a human being can possibly be. We had omelettes, hash browns, and toast. The baby had Gerber pureed green beans. Poor baby!
oldnslow Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Went to the beach with the grands today. Got to play in the surf with them.
wayne swayze Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Today, I hooked up with a friend that I rarely see, and got to see his '27 T hot rod that he has been working on for 4 years. It's a low buck project, but it's on the road and it's full of nice little touches! He's very proud of it, and he certainly should be! That really made my day!
Joe Handley Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 My birthday is coming up mid-month and Dad asked me if there was anything specific I wanted for my birthday..............and I couldn't think of anything for the first time in a couple years! Money has been tight enough that there were times I wondered how I was going to pay for fuel to get to and from work once my bills were paid without selling off my 200 (at a loss), Jeep (for almost nothing), or R/C's that weren't being driven at the time (short answer, credit card). The store is doing well enough that I'm getting decent hours again, which means decent money coming in, and then my last paycheck ended up not having any bills to pay from it, so while I did spend some of it, I still have enough to tide me over financially until my next paycheck.......which will be in right before my birthday! I'm doing just well enough that I can pay down what I put on my card and can put money away for the rest of my car insurance that is due in January, then for tires and alignment on the 200 after that!

I find that when I have a big project --- creative or otherwise, work or otherwise, my brain is full of project so it doesn't wander off to model car projects. I think your on to something there Tom. Plus I just bought a new firearm for that collection and that didn't help. I have three hobbies and I seem to get on to one and let the others go and then change direction again at some point. I will be back ! I have a diorama in the planning stages that will be a car at a drive in movie theater. I bought a resin post and twin speaker set up like they had ( still do ? ) back in the day . I am not sure how to add a screen to a somewhat small diorama and have it look right.
slusher Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Ever watch Honey Boo Boo? Mama June had her first daughter at 15, and she's a grandmother at 33! Poor breeding practices at best! I became Granpaw at 41 and now I have 4 at 48. Now my son has his hands full and wait until those girls become teenager all 4 and the last 3 are only 2 years apart....
cobraman Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Second bedroom at my sisters new (to her ) home painted today. Bathroom and kitchen left. Going to try to knock that out this Saturday. Then perhaps I will want to build again. But she also bought some new ceiling fans and light fixtures so there goes another day. At least she feeds me. : )
Lownslow Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Got 2 people to defect from my old job to where im at after they saw my pay stub.
Agent G Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Today ended the work week from hell. That pleased me to all get out. I worked four 12 hour days due to manpower shortages. Time for some sleep, food and bench time! G
High octane Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 My 1 year old grandson came over today for awhile and I also went to a cruise night tonight as well. I am pleased.
peter31a Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I pleased that I am celebrating my 31st wedding anniversary today. Why this sweet woman keeps putting up with me, I'll never know.
Tom Geiger Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I pleased that I am celebrating my 31st wedding anniversary today. Why this sweet woman keeps putting up with me, I'll never know. Because she's a model car groupie? Congrats!
crazyjim Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I pleased that I am celebrating my 31st wedding anniversary today. Why this sweet woman keeps putting up with me, I'll never know. Congratulations Peter & wife.
High octane Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Don't stop now Peter as you're "on a roll," and CONGRATS to you and your better half.
Joe Handley Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Went to renew my driver's license today, found a spot right by their front door, walked right up to the counter and was taken care of right away, redid my eye test and my sight improved enough to no longer need to have the eye glasses restriction on my license, and was in and out in less time than it took me to drive there and park!
Ramfins59 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I made a new modeling friend. Dave Chivers (Doobie) in the UK. He is another lover of 1950's cars who contacted me by PM and we are currently becoming fast friends and doing some deals. What a great hobby this is with such great people, no matter where we live.
High octane Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I got to work on my models a bit this afternoon, and then went to a model car club meeting.
