AMT 68 Roadrunner in need of an opinion

Just bought this kit, so technically I haven't started it yet but I wanted to get some opinions on a set of wheels that I have they are Pegasus Phat daddies. I thought about building it as a pro touring/restomod and considered a stock look as well. I like these wheels and the look of a pro touring Roadrunner but not sure if they are a good fit. The color I'm going for is solid red keeping the wheels chrome. I also like the stock muscle car look but wanted to do something a little different. Here are some pics let me know what you think. Might look ok if you got the back down a lot and the front down more. Hard to beat the looks of a stock road runner though

I usually don't critique someone's choice of "build direction", but since you ask, I've never been a fan of the rubber-band tire look. But I'm pretty old school when it comes to muscle cars. But remember, it's your build so if you like it, go for it.

I'am with robs4516..Not big on the wheels and rubber band tires.. I know it isn't the look for pro-touring but can't beat steelies with big rubber...

Just drop it mate, a bit of work to do it properly, with the wheel wells etc, but will be well worth it though.

Personally, I like the bigger wheels, as long as it is low. Did one of these recently , and looked great with the bigger wheels and lowered properly.

Don't be afraid to try something different. I like stock Muscle Cars and I really like pro touring cars. My only suggestions is if you go pro touring don't build it as a stock body with the big wheels. Stay away from stock colors also. I would lower it some more but not scraping pavement. Shave off the handles and marker lights.

It's no secret I'm a huge Mopar fan ? & I could go either way, stock or Pro-Tourer ? Here's some inspiration for ya...

& this is a mate of mine, Cesar Bossolani's 68 WIP...

The Phat Daddies are ok... But would look better with better quality tyres ( slightly higher profile ?)

It's up to you - but if rubber band tyres were any good they'd use them for racing. They are good for saving rubber, making your dentist rich and impressing the local youths.

Shame to put them on a muscle car, especially one as sharp as yours looks.

I also don't like telling people what direction to take. Do what you want. I would like to suggest don't be afraid to paint even some of the wheel.

It's your build, do whatever floats your boat. Me, I'm from the "old school" days of street machines, so I'm doing my '68 with big and littles on 5-spoke, unpolished Americans and a nice, nose-down rear-up attitude. (you can see it in "On the Workbench"). But that's not to say that I wouldn't consider another build of the same kit in another genre. Each has it's own appeal to different people.

So here's an update and some pics showing the direction I decided to go with. I'm just getting started so I haven't done much but its a start. I drilled out the side marker lights and filled them in and shaved off the door handles. I'm probably going to use the door handles from the 68 charger kit as they are a lot nicer and more realistic.

Agreed. Also the front wheel wells of most Mopars are the era are notoriously narrow, so tucking a wider, larger tire will require some modification. Looking forward to seeing the work.

X2 iceman, I love seeing cars that I normally would not build. it's actually opened up some avenues for me to venture out and build something I don't build. your stance in the latter pictures is almost spot on. also, I agree 100% with Hakan, you have to get these low and they look neat.

Thanks for you thoughts guys I really appreciate it. I want to thank Cesar and Cliff they were very helpful. This is going to be a big build for me so it will take some time but I'm really excited about it. I'm going to be doing lot of firsts with this build especially with the modifications.
