Gluebomber Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I've had a couple of these kits in my stash since they came out in 2010, but when I picked up the V-R-M decals for them at the IPMS Nationals, I had to build one. The kit is pretty straightforward, but a lot of the parts are really delicate and require some care and patience to get right. I added some engine details, rear nerf bars, and seat snaps, but the model is basically box stock. Paint is Tamiya Metallic Red and Racing White decanted and airbrushed, followed by some Omni clearcoat. All the chrome was stripped and repainted with Alclad and Metalizer. All comments, positive and negative, are welcome. Thanks for looking!
skymnky721 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Beautiful! Thats a a nice shade of red for that. Works well
krazyglu Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Very well built model, I like the decal's, paint and added detail's.
Bernard Kron Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Sanitary execution. The basic metallic red you chose and those VRM decals take this build to another level. Very nice indeed!
DynoMight Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Nice and clean job on this one! I've always seen these kits, but never bought one.
peekay Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Very nice build-up of this kit, everything looks just right. The kit's delicate parts (and those you've added) make all the difference.
Gluebomber Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Thanks, Guys, for the kind words.
rmvw guy Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Nice job, it looks very authentic. I love the two-tone paint and graphics.
Maxicoop Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I want to build one of these ....and seeing you beautiful build just makes me want to build one even more !!!!!!!!!! super build !!!!!!!!
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) Yes sir, very clean, excellent peel-free gloss, decal and detail work, chrome refinishing...all just right. Nice pix too. Edited September 1, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
TooOld Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 That's really sharp looking , the Metallic Red and Alcad really go together great ! Very nice .
Helix Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Very impressive build Larry ! It's a pity this kit doesn't have spare tyres, you have to buy a second kit to make the first look completed especially with the tyre holder on the trailer....
Gluebomber Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Thanks again, Guys. Ray, you're right, it needs an extra set of wheels and tires on the trailer. I have another kit, but want to build it. I may buy another one and put a couple of extra tires on each trailer. If nothing else, it needs extra weight in front. I had to add some sheet lead under the front of the trailer on this one to keep the tail from dragging.
Dave Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Thanks again, Guys. Ray, you're right, it needs an extra set of wheels and tires on the trailer. I have another kit, but want to build it. I may buy another one and put a couple of extra tires on each trailer. If nothing else, it needs extra weight in front. Gluebomber Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 Dave, you're correct. After I saw your note, I checked my RMM catalog and, sure enough, item W-6 is a 1/25 Kurtis wheel and tire set for $8.95. I'll send Norm an order for a couple of these today. Thanks for the heads-up!
