jaymcminn Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 http://www.ebay.com/itm/IMR-2014-Limited-Edition-1-24-Scale-Passenger-1-for-Tamiya-or-similar-/161437750026?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item259670930a I don't get this. Is this a thing now? This is more than I pay to register my 1:1 car, and I get cool plates with a shark on them!
The Creative Explorer Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Let me see, I;ve got probably more than 100 built models, times 20 dollars for the fee is about 2,000 dollars on registration fees. Not even thinking of the yet to be built 300+ models I have laying around. Naah, doesn't sound that appealing. I quess I stick with printing my own licenseplates....
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 And it doesn't even look like a real state license plate. I could get some decal paper and do this myself.
Joe Handley Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Wonder how many suckers they find with that?!
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 You'll notice, nobody bid on one of them. My prediction is, that's the way it will remain. I'm not a betting man, but if I were going to...... Steve
unclescott58 Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 That's got to be one of dumbest things I've seen in while. Like I could care less. Scott
D. Battista Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I can't believe someone spent that much time creating that product and website....! What a waste....!
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 You see some really ridiculous things on ebay. The other day, while surfing the site, I happened upon someone who was "Trying" to sell kit parts. He had at least a few that I just couldn't believe. The one that stands out the most was a set of four pretty much generic mid 60s AMT narrow white wall tires with a "buy it now" price of $24.99! I almost soiled myself from laughing so hard! Steve
jaymcminn Posted October 8, 2014 Author Posted October 8, 2014 Maybe if you don't get the plates and you take your model to a show you'll get a 1/24 scale ticket for improper registration?
Harry P. Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Notice there were no bids? Why would anyone pay this guy a dime when you can create your own plate decals any time?
uncle potts Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Do they know that this is just a hobby, it's not for real.... come on!
GLMFAA1 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Gee I was thinking of designing 'LoJack' for my models anyone interested? greg
jbwelda Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 there is a long time, well proven maxim in advertising: No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of their market. perhaps that applies here. jb
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Now they need that annoying dingy noise generator for models when you open the door. Working scale radios, ignitions that turn, and when you don't pay your model insurance a miniature towtruck comes along and repossesses it for Revell.
om617 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Nothing shock me anymore on that site, well beside someone did try auction genuine Holocaust prisoner uniforms.
Howard Cohen Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 It almost has scam written on it However, as P.T.Barnum once said, 'there's a sucker born every minute', so somewhere someone will buy the first registration and think it is really something special. I think it's a load of manure Now, everyone go to their computer and make your own plates for all your models. Make your own design and your own set of numbers and a proper registration list so you know all your models are yours. Don't forget to charge yourself and pay your bill promptly
Deathgoblin Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I just don't see the point. An international model registry? While I am quite fond of my models, I dont think they need international tracking
Tom Geiger Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Of course I agree with everyone here. No need to register your models with this clown. But ya never know... back about 15 years ago there were people saying, "Nobody would ever auction bid for Pez dispensers!"
The Creative Explorer Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 No matter how much I looked on that site, there is no information found whatsoever about who owns it, in which place it is or if it is even registrated at the chamber of commerce.

Steve Steve didja now notice that he has over 7300 100 percent positive feedback? Seems that he'd be the one doing the laughing!

All the way to the bank would be my guess. The world is full of fools, & there's another born every second. I guess if I had no morals, I'd do the same. Steve
Nova-ss Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Funny...people! It is amazing the things people think of. not for me.
