chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I had a Corvair with no roof. I had a Camaro (I don't like em too much) WITH a roof. Wh... What are you doing? You can't be serious. You can't be... Don't do it. Don't EVEN do it. Actually, that looks pretty good! Yeah, it does! I'm thinkin a V8 swap, or a V6, still in the rear. I'll keep the Corvair rear lights. Rallye rims? Maybe. Probably mags. More soon.
Draggon Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 The roof swap makes it look a lot like a 4-door hardtop!
ToyLvr Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Let me know if you need pix of a 1:1 V-8 powered Corvair. I used to own a '66 coupe with a SBC in the back seat. ;-)
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Would a Buick engine be a crime in this? I have some sort of strange love for Buick Nailhead engines.
slusher Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Would a Buick engine be a crime in this? I have some sort of strange love for Buick Nailhead engines. What ever you want to put in it...
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 I put some putty on the roof joints earlier. Pictures later.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) ... I have some sort of strange love for Buick Nailhead engines. You should get that checked. It can cause a rash. Interesting concept, but to my eye, the roof on your mockup looks a little tall, and the windshield pillars a little too upright at this point. Edited October 27, 2014 by Ace-Garageguy
66belair Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Interesting concept,I'd go with a turbo 6 Buick.

The pillars only look a bit too tall because there's still plastic around em in that picture. As it sits mow, waiting for putty to dry fully, they're down more.
blunc Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I suggest making it a "phantom" GM corporate design study, add period specific body styling cues depending on which engine you go with. Like maybe a Buick version of a mid-60's rear/mid engine concept car.

Like maybe a Buick version of a mid-60's rear/mid engine concept car.I like that idea. Found out I have to repair the rear wheel flanges because they were brutally knifed out long ago. Here's a picture before I go to school. Needs more sanding.... Have another! Sorry for the bad pictures. iPad likes to flip sideways while taking pictures sometimes.
ZTony8 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) The sail panel(C pillar) area kinda looks like the Yenko roof extensions but with a flush back window. You might consider putting in some '67-'68 Camaro tail lights to really make people do a double take. Edited October 28, 2014 by ZTony8
Snake45 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 The sail panel(C pillar) area kinda looks like the Yenko roof extensions but with a flush back window. Not Yenko...you're thinking of the Fitch Sprint roof.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 I won't replace the taillights until I have a cutoff attachment for the Dremel. The Camaro lights look good. Maybe I could make a Corvair Z/28....
Danno Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Maybe I could make a Corvair Z/28.... Call it a Z/24 like Chevy did later with the hotted-up Cavalier.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 Well I have Z/28 badges from the 'Maro I thought I could use... What did Z/28 mean anyways? I know it's a package for the cars, but like Zoom, 28 from 428? No idea....
Greg Wann Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Interesting concept,I'd go with a turbo 6 Buick. Fastest production car in 1987. I would definitely use the Turbo engine. It will most certainly light your fire.

Like maybe a Buick version of a mid-60's rear/mid engine concept car. I like this. I have my artist buddy John Farrow drawing up my so called "got rich project" rendering. A 70 to 72 Buick GS/GSX roadster / salt flat car. I call the project INVADER. A mid engine, two seat concept might be cool. An area behind the seats would flip open to service the engine. maybe the hood scoops could be stylishly placed there. Maybe all wheel drive? Maybe a supercharged 455. Maybe a removable hardtop. Sorry, I could not help myself for this post.
