Antikainen Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) In an alternative reality hover cars were invented in the thirties. This model represents a typical luxyry speedster from late forties. I must say that I am not at all satisfied how that clearcoating went on those wooden areas. Anyway, building this one was a great experience and I learned a lot. This is a scratcbuilt model, material is quite dense urethane called Sikablock, thin wood slices, aluminiun tubing and parts from various model kits and die cast models. bbowser Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Interesting concept, looks like the antique mahogany boats that the rich and famous owned back in those days. Nice work.
TooOld Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 That is pretty cool . I like the concept of combining the "boat" look with an automobile . Excellent work !
robertw Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Stick a propeller on the back and head for the lake. It's a unique looking vehicle and you've done a nice job building it. I wouldn't be too concerned about the wood finish, when real wood is used on a car you should be able to tell that it is real wood.
asfastasu Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Is there an engine? If not, can it still be called "curbside"? I kid. Very unique and original. I like it.
unclescott58 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Very cool! I like it. But, are you telling me hover cars were not invented in the 30's. Darn! Scott
Maxicoop Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 that is an amazing build !!!!! and that would be a very interesting boat to be floating around on drawing crowds everywhere you would go !!!! very well done !!!!
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Great concept. I really like "alternate reality" ideas.
jaymichaelsdesigns Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Is it a car or a boat??? lok like both to me looks great something very very different great job
Antikainen Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 Thanks for your kind comments! I´ts not an amphicar nor boat. I´ts a hovercar, hovering just above the ground. No wheels, no landing gear, just antigravity system.
