moparfarmer
Was wondering if anyone here uses Gorilla Super glue and what is you opinion of it..I bought two bottles of it..It seems think and takes 15-25 seconds to set to dry..It seems like five minute epoxy that is very thin..How does it dry..Says it bonds stronger that normal super glues(crazy glue) so I thought why not..Does it for glass like other super glues? I want to hear what you have to say..All replies welcome, negative or positive, let me know...
CJ1971
I find the best way to learn is to educate yourself... Why don't you try all of those things & find out for yourself?
Misha
While I haven't tried the product, I do feel that the forum is set up to help each other. I would like to know of other modellers experiences, for truly that is the best way to learn. By sharing information we can save a lot of grief that others have discovered or found a way around a problem. I hope to see others chime in with their experiences, rather than suggest that one try it out themselves. The forum exists so that we do not work in isolation. Cheers Misha

Bill Eh?
Wayne, I have used the stuff, but not for modelling. It doe create an extremely strong bond. One warning. It tends to react almost like an expanding foam. It does not necessarily stay only on the location where it was originally applied.
Chuck Most
Wayne, I have used the stuff, but not for modelling. It doe create an extremely strong bond. One warning. It tends to react almost like an expanding foam. It does not necessarily stay only on the location where it was originally applied. The regular Gorilla Glue does that, but the Gorilla Glue-brand super glue doesn't expand. At least it never has on me. I've used it a few times, but I don't think it's much better than any of the other super glue brands go as far as strength. It also seems more likely to 'fog' parts than some other super glues, though it's not as bad as Loctite in that respect, from my own experience. Kennyboy
We use it at work to glue instrumentation on vehicles for crash testing......best stuff I have used for this purpose. Works great on plastic and metal both!
vettecote
I've had good luck with it. Seems the less you use the quicker it sets up...Joe
GLMFAA1
Make sure it is the 'super glue' as the regular is expanding type. so it depends on your application as to what you want to glue together. greg
Daddyfink
I use the Gorilla Super Glue and it works good, just have to be a bit patient as it does not set up as fast a Crazy Glue. Which is good if you have to re-adjust your parts a bit. Yes, I recommend it.
sjordan2
My only experience was trying to fix a plastic toy and it melted the joint I was trying to glue.
Tom Geiger
Wayne, I have used the stuff, but not for modelling. It doe create an extremely strong bond. One warning. It tends to react almost like an expanding foam. It does not necessarily stay only on the location where it was originally applied. I had that same experience... I tried to glue a soap dish back in my tub tile wall. I had it taped in place.. came back to find the glue had expanded and now I had this soap dish sticking out and crooked.. and glued very well! What a pain in the tail chizzling that out! Wayne, I like a thicker CA that doesn't set up instantly. I get the hobby shop brand (Bob Smith Industries glue that they put your local hobby shop's name on). I get the thickest variety.
signguy2108
I use the clear gorilla glue on all my scratchbuilt stuff. never had a problem with it, but the yellow expandable is just nasty! I always use an accelerator with super glue.
Dave Van
I use it and like it. I never mix super glue and clear so I can't answer. I like it because it does work well and because it is available at my local drug store. My hobby shop is 3 hours away.....the drug store a few minutes. southpier
it's good for "utilitarian" bonding. stuff that isn't necessarily seen. use it on the model railroad for benchwork & scenery. also use Loctite superglue for the same purposes. for models, I use liquid (Tamiya/ Plasti-weld ) & acc (zap-a-Gap) medium. dissimilar materials may get some BSI 5 minute or 1 hour epoxy. they all have their places. Cheers MishaI agree with ya.I have learned alot by first seeing how and whats others felt and thought....experienced using products or techniques.I would like to hear others views on there thoughts and experiences with this glue . I've thought about using it myself.then when you do use a product or technique then learn more for yourself.but its nice to learn from others before jumping in.thank you Edited December 15, 2014 by Nova-ss
johnbuzzed
I have heard that Gorilla Glue expands slightly as it cures, but I have no practical experience with it. I'm satisfied with the Loctite cyanoacrylates that I get at Lowes. Sometimes, it does pay to experiment for one's self, but sometimes, you want to get info and opinions from others first. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It can save time and money and grief.
Nova-ss
I've used CA's on clear plastics,it can fog the clear but I've found its the fumes that do the fogging of clear.so when I use CA for clear I useit sparingly and blow on it to remove the fumes while it gases out. A.R.C.
Been using it for a few years now and it works great. It does fog clear parts and chrome just like any Cyro glue so be carefull of that. If you use an accelerator the dry time is instant and it seems to strengthen the bond.
