It won't be pointless, if you turn the model over you will see those parts alittle. BTW I love the build

Thanks. I'm fairly pleased with the way things are coming along, but I still have a lot to learn.

Thanks, fellas, I appreciate it. I've decided to go ahead and strip the taillight too, as in my haste to finish it, I sort of messed it up. I like the general idea of what I was trying to achieve, just not the method.

Perhaps hard to tell from this photo, but I stripped and redid the taillight assembly. I think it looks much better now.

Kevin, looking good, that color looks sweet. try a few more coats of clear and see how deep that finish looks, I think you'll like the results.

Engine now more or less done. No wiring, throttle linkages or fuel lines will be added. Lousy photo, but it shows what's been done, which isn't much.

I'm starting to feel the time crunch already, just to finish in time.

Dang that sucks don't it? Been there and done that at the one month marker! Three months later after that............well..........you know.

Your progress is looking good Kevin!

Bummer. I started polishing the paint yesterday, and discovered a bit of a tiny fuzzball smack in the middle of the roof. That, combined with the (temporary, I hope) loss of two of my three Novus polishes, has me a bit frustrated.

OK, a little wet sanding, some Crest toothpaste and Novus #3 have yielded some pleasant results. Not perfect by a long shot, but certainly not bad, at least by my standards. After going over with #'s 2 & 1, it should look acceptable.

Just a suggestion but way back we used to polish out real show cars with a toothpaste and cornstarch mixture, it is a little bit less hazy than straight toothpaste. One of the best polishing cloths I have found is from white briefs, this was a suggestion from an optometrist, this material is safe for cleaning plastic eyeglasses and won't scratch the surface so it's just common sense that it would make an excellent polish and waxing material.

Just don't let your wife catch you cutting up your clean underwear, lol.

Working on some various methods to get the wheels to look good. This is far from perfect, but once refined, it should work out OK I think.

Far from perfect my.............. !! It looks near it to me!!! emotion-21.gif!

Thanks, Joe, but after my next attempt (using what I learned on the first two tries), they should look lots better, (I hope).

Hurray! I found my other two polishes. #2 seems to clench the deal, with #1 just giving some extra gloss, or at least that's the way it appears to me. Far from some of the fabulous paintjobs I’ve seen here, for my very first ever lacquer job, I’m pretty pleased. Still lots of polishing ahead though.

I'm having some serious fun here. Wet sanding, followed by the toothpaste, then all three Novus polishes, are really allowing me to "get my shine on".

Thanks very much for all the nice comments and encouragement, fellas. Having not finished a car model in roughly 20 years, I'm feeling a bit pressured by all the great work I see here, and a strong desire to have this car be at least attractive enough not to be an embarrassment.
