bpletcher55 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I got this kit and love it ,but unsure how I want to build it , GASSER ? ,CUSTOM ?, BEATER ? , OLD WEATHERED BARN FIND ?, HELP ! WOULD LIKE PICTURES IF POSSIBLE ,
Tom Geiger Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Hmmmm.... I'm seeing it with the Jimmy Flintstone Ranch Wagon body!
MeatMan Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'd make it a custom. I did a search on these and there are some nice photos for inspiration. I think slamming it is imperative! I just got a '56 Vic and I've decided to go with a period mild hot rod look. Kind of a weekend racer. Good luck.
FordRodnKustom Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 The possibilities are just about endless. Good luck with your build!
Guest Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 How about a showroom fresh stock vehicle? Seems to be a dying art. Everyone wants to hot rod or customize.
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Here's a stock version I built many years ago. Steve
espo Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I like the showroom stock, but I'm already getting the Cad. engine out of the '49 Ford to put in a mild custom for myself. I'm thinking a nice "rake" with just a "nosed" and "decked" body mods.
earlleecliffton Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 mine is green with baby moons wide whites. and an olds 455 4 speed
DrGlueblob Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 You'll like this kit. It's one of the best Lindberg made.
Earl Marischal Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 How about a street legal version of a period stock car? Roll bar, steel wheels, tuned stock motor and typical colour scheme... steve
Mike_G Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 How about a showroom fresh stock vehicle? Seems to be a dying art. Everyone wants to hot rod or customize. Not the greatest pic but it's the only one I currently have. I used photo-etched details and BMF for the first time
StevenGuthmiller Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I will say, I'm not much of a custom guy, but the '53 Ford is, in my opinion, a great canvas for customizing. If I ever decide to start building customs, the '53 will be my first victim! Steve
ChrisBcritter Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I've got one that's a dormant custom project: filled in all the slots for the side chrome, added a '57 Buick grille and redid the rear fenders with '60 Olds taillights, got a Monogram '59 Caddy engine for it - that's as far as I've gotten. See if anyone is parting out a convertible kit if you want a dual exhaust setup - the coupe kit only has a single.
Snake45 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I vote Gasser! I like the primer black one above.
bpletcher55 Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 Thanks guys those are some cool pics and good ideas , I,m still on the fence as to what I mite do ,
Mike_G Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I have another kit that I was thinking of making into a custom, it seems like it would be really easy to chop the top
blunc Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I've seen a "Bradley" sketch of a 1953 roadster with a restyled nose and tail which has a modified 1956 side spear.
tubbs Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 well, I was going to do mine as a early 60's hot rod, dechromed body, flat black, red steelies, white walls, cheater slicks and the supercharged motor out of the 57 fairlane. it will be cool with however you build it. you always come up with some great builds Blair.
Drake69 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 FRANKENSLED http://www.motortopia.com/driveonline/articles/frankensled-2-1780/ Lead sled all the way.
bpletcher55 Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 Hay Allan ,I like that car . and the other ideas are cool . this is harder then I thought it would be . I know one thing I will be getting more of these kits this model is nice .
Ron Hamilton Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Hmmmm.... I'm seeing it with the Jimmy Flintstone Ranch Wagon body! That's where I'm going with my next one. It is an excellent kit that lends itself to a lot of different possibilities.
59 Impala Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) I customized two of these cars. Both have 56 Packard tail lights on them. Other than that, they are really different from each other. Here are a couple pics of each fer ya. This chopped top one is not finished on purpose. I wanted it to look like someone is working on it while being driven all the time. I hope you like them and helps you out. Dan Edited January 7, 2015 by 59 Impala
