Mike Kucaba Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Okay humor me for a bit. Is that chart for the Tamiya model or... 700.00 euro? ..
niteowl7710 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Okay humor me for a bit. Is that chart for the Tamiya model or... 700.00 euro? .. I believe that would be for the 1:1 glass & trim.

mike 51 Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I'm surprised that I've only seem two built...both pre-release factory versions. Has anyone here finished thiers? Mine is awaiting better weather to paint it.

It really is the first "supercar" Ben Yes it does...I'm especially impressed with the fit of the doors (so far at least). I made my own Rudge wheels with 1/8 tubing spacing the AMT knockoffs away from the hub..no hub rivets but I can live with that "error" on my black wheels. Edited June 26, 2015 by mike 51
Exotics_Builder Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I've got 4 kits ahead of it to finish before I even contemplate a start
Pete J. Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Got my two sets of Rudge rims and tires from HRM the other day. Nice pieces of resin! Great people to work with. Great price too. Thanks Harold!
jbwelda Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I bought two sets of the Rudge wheels too...never know how long they might be available and I can always use another set for a 356 or something. I think I have seen them on Jag XK120s too. I too have a long stack of builders to deal with before I go into this one, including a Porsche 914-6 from the very same HRM, so its interesting seeing how it goes for others. As per expected, it sounds like typical Tamiya smooth sailing. and I really dig that clear under pan idea. not realistic I know, but really interesting concept to show the chassis detail. its funny you don't hear the questions or criticisms of this car vs its prototype like you do with some of the domestic (USA) releases. either its dead on correct or the car is unfamiliar enough to not draw the armchair stylists, not that there is anything wrong with that. jb

Did you miss the criticisms about the trunk not opening ? Edited June 29, 2015 by martinfan5

Did you miss the criticisms about the trunk not opening ? ..and the open seat backs that are clearly visible through the rear window and the over use of "chrome". This kit is a great kit as usual from Tamiya but nothing is perfect. That is why we are modelers and not just builders.

jbwelda Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 yeah wow the open seat backs. that nearly ruins it for me. "trunks opening" would not be a criticism: it would be a wish list item. jb

Pete J. Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) Frankly, none of this is anything that can't be fixed. Love the fact that Tamiya thought enough of this to create it. I just hope they continue the trend. I would love to see other early sports cars like this. Perhaps a pontoon fendered GTO or a Jaguar XK120. Or maybe even a good MGT#series. Chuck Kourouklis Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 They are on a good vintage kick these days, and I can think of a 250 Ferrari or two (*cough cough, SWB, Lusso*) that hasn't been hammered by Fuji or Hase yet...

Matt Bacon Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 ...or an E-Type Jag, preferably a lightweight, proudly supported by a resurgent Jaguar-Land Rover, who are building new 1:1s as well, providing all the prototype access and info anyone could possibly want! bestest, M.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) WERD. The Heller's still pretty okay, but a new Tamiya on that one? 4.2 with headlights still under glass and yesterday, please. Open and FHC, if you would. Lightweight most welcome as a new alternative. Wouldn't they be able to go back to the sedan patterns for the basic engine architecture?
