Ace-Garageguy
Â I think this is a pretty good indication the well-done, traditional cars are now mainstream cool, will be for several years at least. Are you listening, Revell ? Â Remarkably similar overall to the Eddie Dye car of 1951, a '29 shell on '32 rails... Â Â ...the Niekamp roadster (the 1950 AMBR winner) Â Edited September 6, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
Blown03SVT
Everything old is new again. I wonder how this compares in build quality compared to some of the original AMBR winners? The car is very tastefully done... some of the stuff from the 60's and 70's... YIKES! Ace I agree, the retro market is there. It may very well have longer lasting shelf life than some of the new releases. Here's to hoping for more versions from RM.
wisdonm
Pleasing, but not very exciting. Then again, the other entrants were absolute dogs.

It may very well have longer lasting shelf life than some of the new releases. Here's to hoping for more versions from RM. The build quality is MUCH better than it was eons ago, and some builders I know complain about the fact that EVERYTHING gets looked at, chromed, polished, painted, etc, and that the cars are static sculpture, WAY too nice to drive. Stuff in the '50s was mostly stick or gas-welded, and the bits that were hidden were often pretty grotty indeed. Just the advances in MIG and TIG welding availability have changed things , much for the better. Still, there is a growing number of traditional cars being built as drivers, with vastly superior workmanship than was common in the early days, and I expect the trend to continue. John Goschke
As I understand it, overall "driveability" and ergonomics were an important judging factor this year. Seemed like there were quite a few more "traditional" appearing cars among the candidates and less of the smoothed, stretched and re-proportioned design exercises that bear only a passing resemblance to their origins. Gluhead
Very pleased to see this car get its due recognition, and the color couldn't be more perfect for it. I'm with Bill, as usual...I hope we see the kit co's finally pick up on the true direction of things and give us more to work with along these lines. bigphoto
I like it because it is not an overly doo-dadded up car!
JunkPile
A fine example of "less is more"
Draggon
Traditional, whoot whoot! No circus wheels on this one. Oh, and the "Ace garage spl" is pretty cool too!

zenrat
Very nice. I look forward to the spread in TRJ. I particularly like the complete absence of billet parts (as far as I can see) and that they didn't feel the need to polish or chrome every single thing under the bonnet. mikemodeler
Beautiful hot rod but what are the chances that it will ever see the road and be enjoyed? I agree that it is nice to see them get back to reality with the cars and designs but I can only imagine what it cost to build this car. Karl LaFong
VERY cool!!! Compared to winners from the 60's-90's, this won't look like a period piece. Traditional rules!
JM485
Talk about clean, unbelievable paint. Looks like it would be a blast to drive.
Daddyfink
Trust me, that color looks better in person! Out of all the candidates, this one was in the top running! Forgot my camera at home so no pics, sorry!
Chuck Most
Hate the color, but love the rest of the car.
Chas SCR
If it goes to the Goodguy Nationals it will see a road and do the 1 mil trip into the park under the rules! Fooses all of his cars has done it so far and I do not see why this can not do it.
Guest
Not liking the color either, but oh so deep paint! Can you post some full view pics?

Terry Sumner
Eh! Doesn't turn my wheels but then again, I never liked track noses. Quality looks PDG though!
iBorg
I absolutely love it. So many of the AMBRs are so "perfect" they're no longer cars but wheeled art pieces. I can see this one actually being driven. Mike
Joe Handley
Love the car, not a fan of most reds, but this car looks good in marroon!
