MCM Ohana (6/6)

  1. You were well on your way on this @mrm, did it ever get finished?
  2. See Blizzy63's post above. I'm pretty sure every other issue of this kit (except the stock only Dick Tracy) had this shell with the slot in the middle opened up for the custom grill. Didn't realize there was a version with that slot molded closed.
  3. Maybe amend your post to remove the Revell kits? It's an Round2 display, so no Revell kits on there. Too bad every Walmart doesn't carry the display. So far none of mine have it, although the only model I'm interested in is the Sundowner, and that's just of I stumble across it.
  4. Spent a little time last night doing a few small items. First up was lowering the front suspension a tad. I used the notch in the ring (highlighted with a black mark) as my locator hole for the new height. I know this is no prototypically correct (obviously) but you won't be able to see the mod once everything is assembled, and it's way easier than altering the kit piece because it is very small (but nicely detailed for it's size). I drilled three progressively larger holes until I got the correct size to accept the pin from the steering arm. Then I removed a portion of the ring to the left and right of the new hole to allow the arm to rest flush against the disc. This should result in about a 2 inch scale drop. I don't think a modern protouring build would keep the stock 3(?) speed trans, so I swapped in a C6 from one of the plethora of leftover engines from a Revell 32 Ford that I have. I also stole the master cylinder from my Revell 32 stash, and the rear dif cover because the Moebius part has a big seam running through it. So i removed the molded dif cover and the new one fits perfectly. just have to smooth the seams on the dif itself. That's where it stands for now, probably the last activity until the weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
  5. I've been conversing with my friend Frank Luque (well known on the Spotlight board) in text messages and he inspired me with his recent build of this new Moebius kit. It seems like a great kit, perfect to kick off the new building season. Started carving on it this weekend at my friend Chuck Darnells Build N Bull. I do not care for the snorkel hood in the kit, so the first order of business was to cut the flat hood out of an AMT 64 Comet. The hood in the AMT is slightly narrower then the Moebius opening so I had two options, cut it out and add styrene strip to the edges, or cut it out wider and sand to fit. The second option sacrifices the AMT body, but requires less work so I went with option 2. Here you can see what is left of the AMT edges of the hoods (highlighted in black. The difference to the Moebius opening is minimal. Mission accomplished. At this point I needed to sand the back edge a bit more to even up the front with the fenders. I decided to open the trunk as well, even thought there's nothing back there to look at lol. Haven't decided if I'm going to build a top for the fuel cell or just add a smooth piece over the entire rear section. Not much more planned as far as mods except possibly slightly lowering the front ride height and replacing the undersized master cylinder.
  6. I don't have any issue with the thread you created about the 2 new Craftsman kits Craig. Someone has a problem that i created a stand alone one dedicated to the new 65 Cuda where no others existed before 🤷‍♂️
  7. Trying to get caught up on the board and stubbled upon this. @Impalow of course I remember it. But now I see it's been another 6 months since any activity. Is it done?
  8. Glad to see it back, hope it doesn't pull you away from the 48 coupe And I love that wheel/tire combo from the original Revell 32 roadster. Gives a great stance right out of the box.
  9. Yeah, that's got a bunch of discussions around the unrelated 60 Nomad all lumped together. Each deserve their own thread for the sake of clarity.
  10. Bil, i know you stepped away from the bench for awhile. Did this one get any further? You're off to a great start.
  11. This is very cool. I've recently had an interest in vans ignited in me, seeing this has given me some ideas.
  12. Looking good. Curious what the issue is with the Texas 3D hood? I have one currently in the mail so I want to know what I need to fix.
  13. It sounds like the Sundowner version may be exclusive to WalMart as well? Looks like about 1/3 of the kits on that display have unique/new box art.
  14. What existing topic would you combine this with that only talks about this new 65 kit? All the other threads where this new kit is discussed is combined with other kits. If there is a stand alone topic on this kit already i apologize, but I did search before i started it.
  15. I think this kit deserves it's own thread instead of being lumped together with other kits. Here's what we know so far... Round2 has announced this all new tooling kit, possibly hitting shelves by the end of 2025. It's a Craftsman Plus kit, meaning it is a curbside. But it does appear to have some separate suspension pieces and a separate hood, which hints at a possible future full detail version similar to what they did with the 63 Nova wagon. At least if we never get that it is easy to drop the engine of your choice in the kit as it comes now. Some very nice thin bluewall tires are included as well. HPIGuy now has it in his hands and is preparing his review Sean Svensden of Svens World of Wheels also has one going
