  1. So, after mulling over Andrew's thoughts I've decided to go for broke with the vents. Opened up all the rear vents, after reinforcing behind with spring steel wire and have decided to drill out the front guards. The worst that can happen is I stuff it and I'll need to get Phil to print me a new nose section. Hope that doesn't happen because I've just found out he's printing the McLaren M6GT for me!!! Once again Christmas has come early. Dave B
  2. Pierre, it's coming along beautifully. I'm sure resin will become your friend, I love it. The last plastic kit I built, apart from finishing the Cheetah and the building salt laker must have been 5+ years ago. Dave B PS, would never have picked the broken decal!!
  3. Tks all for your comments. Rich and Helmut, I'm part way through my next resin, but it's only a 2E Chaparral however a file for the McLaren M6BGT has just been released and it looks interesting. Dave
  4. Sorry, more information. Generally driven by Doug Whiteford. He drove it at Longford and was very successful there in earlier years in his Maserati 300S. Dave B
  5. This is my take on the Zagato I saw race at Longford in March 1962. Purchased new by Australian Laurie O'Neill in Dec '61 and delivered early in '62 this Zagato had a successful racing career in Australia. Raced in it's delivery colours of an Old English White it came first overall in the South Pacific GT Championships at Longford March '62. The car was later sold overseas, restored in unoriginal colours and went on to compete in many major concours event being extremely successful!!! Once again I have to thank Phil for this resin print. Finished in Auto acrylic Old English White and clear coated. Tks for looking. Dave B
  6. Coming along great Charlie. Do you intend to build a specific car? Dave
  7. That's a great build of a very fiddly kit Rich. Congratulations on getting it to look so good. Dave B
  8. Great build Mark and great photography as well. Dave B
  9. Hi Andrew, yes the resin is very thin and I have a good range of diamond coated bits, I'll have to think about it. Yes it's 1/24 and I only downloaded it because I missed out on Paul's. Bought the book a few years back at the right price. Just one of three Chaparral books, not bad for a Ford guy 😂 Dave B
  10. I'm in a bit of a quandary at the moment. Because it's a resin print the fine details (mesh and air outlets in front guards) are almost nonexistent and after a couple of coats of undercoat they'll be gone. As it's resin it's a bit thin and fragile to cut the vents out. Have to think about this one for a while. Dave B
  11. Hi Helmut, yes I have, I've narrowed the pillars and altered the side windows. I've also managed to mess up the glass moulds so Phil has to reprint them. It's painted the colour it was when delivered to Australia and when I saw it race at Longford. Pity it's been restored incorrectly!! Dave B
  12. Tks Charlie, I'm sure yours will be a cut above!! I'm really glad I could help and I'm going to love watching yours come together. Dave B
  13. Looking good Charlie, glad to hear you're doing well. Dave B
  14. Yes, unfortunately, the Fisher's lived in Paradise, or not, especially when wild fires are raging. Dave B
  15. Helmut, you're a man of many talents!! I have all of Mike Quarterman's publications and never realised you were a contributor. A mate has this model unbuilt, and he never will, so I'm hoping to procure it one day. Looking forward to your build. Dave B
  16. Looks really good Ken, so what's next on the drawing board/CAD/printer. Dave B PS, you should market the file!
  17. No worries Charlie, I'm really glad I've been of help. Dave B
  18. Great work Marcel, to do the resin work yourself you're extremely talented. Dave B
  19. Tks Phil, that's an album and a half, I could spend the rest of my life looking at it! Dave B
  20. Coming along slowly, interior needs lengthening so that will be my next job. Three Chaparral books but this one gives the best detail reference photos for the 2E. Dave B
  21. PS, not sure what reference material you have but you need; March '64 Hot Rod; November '63 Sports Car Graphic; and November '63 Car & Driver, preferably in that order. Dave B
