  1. That is a great idea! I just get tires of seeing plain sidewalls, so a make-believe company would even be preferred. If not, I still think there are companies that would let you mold their tires for a reasonable amount, maybe Hancook for cars, or Generals for trucks etc.
  2. LOL, I wish I were a young buck, as it is I am only young at heart. I have a 47 yr old body, with ruptured discs in my back to boot, soooo...I get in and out real careful, no rush! LOL .Oh, and I am somewhat short, only 5'7". I have wanted this car since I saw the prototype. Could not make it happen last year when it came out, but this year, things just aligned, and I figured if I were ever going to make it happen, this was the time.Keep in mind, I work for Toyota Financial, if it were not for that I could not have swung it either. Employee discounts are a good thing. My biggest regret about it, you really can not (should not) drive it the way you are tempted to on the road, and I am not a member of the SCCA or similar. That may have to change at some point. Over time, I would like to upgrade the exhaust, a wee bit more grumble. :-) And, could not resist, it was warm today! LOL
  3. You know, I figured that he may have it. Time to place an order! LOL
  4. Well....as of last week...The 1:1 version of the Scion FRS is in my garage! Yes!!! Drove it home one night after work last week! I will post up some pictures later. Now..I have to pick up some Ultramarine so I can paint my model to match.
  5. They are great looking tires, but they have limited appeal and use due to the low profile etc. But I agree, VERY nice sidewall detail and treads.
  6. OK, what was the source of the carbs again?
  7. Are you talking about the Black Widow one? I checked them out, no such luck this time around. Thanks for the suggestion tho.
  8. The way I do it, is bypass photobucket all together. I simply go to "My Gallery" right here in the forum, upload the pictures directly, then once here, I can copy the image and paste right into my post.
  9. What a super clean looking build Marcos. That is great!
  10. Very nice way to work with what you got. I like your results.
  11. Well, after I part a kit, the wheels and tires are kept in small parts organizers, which you should be able to see here on my bench. The nice thing about this, there are right there in reach, I can see what I have at a glance. I try to keep the wheels organized as well,l stock, mag, race, and tires organized as well, slicks, white walls, etc etc...This really helps when I am test fitting ideas.
  12. Thanks Jere! I appreciate that. There are a lot of great builders here in the valley and surrounding areas, and I just try to plug along.
  13. Well, I got the rear light insets done, and the tube for the antenna. The fenders and the body are ready for final primer and sanding. Until/unless I get the Revell for the chassis, I started to remove all of the molded in floor plan. The frame itself is not all that bad. Now, most of the suspension parts in this kit are junk, so I will have to do some parts digging.
  14. Well John, I am again in awe. It is not just that you do your work so well, you manage it so quickly. I found about 20 minutes or so at the bench this evening. LOL Looking forward to more.
  15. Hello From Maricopa!
  16. hmm, how are you applying the talc? Does it not interfere with the detail?
  17. Thanks for suggesting the 305 or 321. I will have to give give them a try. What is your source or where have you found that offers the best pricing? I have had good success with Allumilite for my small usages, but the problem I have had as of late, is the resin degenerates quickly in the bottles after opened, and I do not cast all the time. as for the mold life, I USUALLY only need three to 5 pieces per mold, assuming the initial casting goes well. The allumilite also seems VERY thick when pouring as opposed to the videos I watched of the Smooth on being poured. This may help, along with the working time, to get rid of some of the air bubbles/voids I have been getting. I do not have a pressure pot or vacuum pot etc, just try to work it in.
  18. I have been using Allumilite for a while, but I would like to find something with a little more working time, and that will settle down into small areas without as many air bubbles. Any ideas folks?
  19. Great tip. Quick question tho, what type of resin do you cast with? I have been working with Allumilite, but I need something with a little more working time.
  20. Yes, it is the old AMT kit that I am using. I may have to pick up the Revell. At this point, I have already started to cut away the molded in floor pans form the frame. For the motor, I will need to get a Chevy 283, not yet sure what my best source for that will be.
  21. Kerry and James, thanks guys! Richard, I really appreciate the compliment/challenge! LOL. Well, I am having a time getting the next set of pictures off of my wife's phone (yeah, I know , I really need a digital camera, but the last one we had, my wife gave away. Just hard justifying buying another one.) As it stands, the body is pretty much complete, the rear fenders need some final putty and sanding. I sank an antenna hole in the rear fender, but you will be able to see those pics when I post them in the next couple of days. I found some nice bullet tail lights as well. It would not really be my choice if I were doing one today, but then again, this is more like my father built back in the day.
  22. FINALLY, got some more progress to post. Got the rough coat of primer on, just need to find all the little problems and clean then up. Also, Dad sunk old juice cans into the rear fenders, and had lights set into them VS the factory taillights. These are just the starter holes after filling the void with the kit taillights. Headlights molded in, a bit of additional filler primer in spots. More pictures tomorrow night, I got more done but not uploaded.
  23. You will never be able to understand with a sane mind that which goes on in the head of a nutter, don't bother to try. Just know that creeps have been aroiund since the beginning, and continue to breed. BTW, here in Indiana when I was in high school 80-84 I had a small motorcycle, and what you had would have also been considered a motorcycle here, because it does not have peddles. I lived in the country, so it was not an issue, but a cop did make me aware. I wish you the best on a resolution.
