RancheroSteve Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 (edited) Thanks for posting those shots. Based on what was posted previously, it appears to me that Slixx did the later version of the car - where the gold was more prominent - and AMT has done the earlier version, where more of the red body color shows through. It's hard to tell how accurate the lace pattern is, but I suspect it will look OK over paint. So apart from the lack of foil (which I can imagine being expensive to produce) I like what I'm seeing. Maybe the aftermarket will step up, but whoops, there goes some more of your money! Edited June 8, 2018 by RancheroSteve
iBorg Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 I agree......it appears we have two sets of decals that are 80% correct for either of the four versions. I don't understand why they didn't do foil. Hopefully the aftermarket will step up.

Phirewriter Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 From this version comes the Model A grill. (Google photo)

The Slixx decals have the Gold lace pattern the kit decals have a multi colored circular pattern and allow more of the body color to show through. How about showing the rest of the kit Please ?

Mr mopar Posted June 9, 2018 Author Posted June 9, 2018 Looking at all the photo's on the net it appears that the lettering is chrome silver not gold ?
iBorg Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 If anyone has the Hot Rod article or other era correct magazines (I'm thinking SS&DI) can you scan them and send them to me as a PM or post them here.

iBorg Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Thanks for the Hot Rod story......a great read. Plus a wonderful side view of the early paint scheme.

BAM, what a deal! Score!

64Comet404 Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 I saw the kit at my LHS last night. It looks really nice, but I will be holding off until I get rid of some kits. At $46.99 Canadian, it's a lot of money for a kit I may not get around to building for a long time.

samdiego Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Well, After spending some time with this kit, yes it's a turd. Disappointing, but I knew this going in. I just let the "Styrene goggles" get the better of me. The body isn't bad but everything else could be better. The decals look good but I haven't tried them at this point.

Well, it's a reissue of a 50yr old MPC drag kit...wasn't that great to begin with...
GMP440 Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 Anyone know if Hobby Lobby will be stocking the Dyno Don Cougar drag car?
