maltsr Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I don't know the manufacturer of the body, but it is a nice casting. I bought it from a friend with a Revell Coupe donor kit. I added the rear fender skirts from plasticard and applied Testor's Dark Bronze Metallic from a rattlecan, covered in Tamiya clear, which darkened the paint somewhat. The interior and firewall had to be sectioned to match the body, but otherwise the kit was built stock apart from plug wires and parts box wheels/tyres.
espo Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Excellent paint color and finish. The chassis looks very realistic. I noticed the rear suspension changes. You mentioned the unknown caster of the body, they got the proportions perfectly on the chopped top. I remember reading years ago an article about some of the difficulties of getting the proportions to look right when shopping the top on a 1:1 car. The reason I mention this is that the article stated that the '39 & '40 Fords were the most difficult to do. The problem had to do with the side windows and the rear side window was the hardest to get right.
DumpyDan Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 My my this looks so smooth and really cool..........Love it!
Koellefornia Kid Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I tried to chop a ´40 Ford myself years ago but I totally messed it up. This resin body looks very good, might be a Flintstone item. You added a very nice paint job ! I like it!
peekay Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 That looks great! I specially like the fender skirts you made - scale skirts have a tendency to look a bit clumsy but these are perfect.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 That's one of the more challenging bodies to chop. VERY nice.
Dennis Lacy Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 That's a fantastic looking '40 Coupe! Perfect color, wheels and stance. The skirts look great on it, too!
geetee66 Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 Wow! That's a very handsome ride! Really nice work and the paint is spot on!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Very clean work. Also loved the color. The Revell kit comes with separate rear fenders. Did the resin body come that way also, or was the fenders came "leaded"?
