Straightliner59 Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Both of these were "entrants" in The "Bring Out Your Dead" thread. Probably my biggest accomplishment in 2020 was figuring out a setup so I can punch louvers. Those are my favorite aspect of the "Indy-ish" Monogram Midget. Looks like I need to take better photos of the Firebird.
stitchdup Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Man their both cool but the midget really stands out

espo Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 The paint work on the Firebird is really impressive looking. The little Midget looks great and I would like to learn more about doing the louvers for the hood ?

Even that wasn't too bad, using Sign Painter's One-Shot enamel. You can see the whole process of discovery regarding the louvers, here:

Bernard Kron Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Great to see you strutting your stuff on the Monogram Midget. Looking forward to more from your bench in 2021. All the best...
bbowser Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 That midget is outstanding! Can't wait to see what's in store.
spencer1984 Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Excellent work on both, but the details on the Midget are really impressive!

Ready for next round? We both got 'em done! I just started a brand new project, so, I'm out for this round. I should have the new one done in time for the round that begins in March, should the thread continue. I have a Monogram Don Edmonds' Modified that's been sitting for 25 years, or so. 16 hours ago, Bernard Kron said: Great to see you strutting your stuff on the Monogram Midget. I've started working on one of the Monogram 1926 Macks. It's intended to be a "canvas" for me to work on paint/weathering stuff. Hope all is well, with you, too! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to comment! I really appreciate it. I am very happy with the midget--I learned a lot, in its creation. It's satisfying to see the response it's gotten from others.

89AKurt Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Very cool the Bring Out Your Dead inspired you to finish these. The Firebird paint job is amazing, but the sprint car is very special.
Straightliner59 Posted January 9, 2021 Author Posted January 9, 2021 Thank you, Kurt. I appreciate it! I enjoy your work, as well. That "Bring Out Your Dead" thing has prompted four completions, for me! It's nice to get some of these ancient projects off the bench.
