37 ford/53 vette

Since none of my vws have been working out for me I thought try a change of pace and pulled out a long stalled build. I'll be using the engine out of the 39 chevy coupe kit with the flamed car on the box as a lot of the chevy 6 parts have been stolen for other stuff. Theres no real plan other than to finish it but the colour will probably be one from hok. The body is pretty close to done but there is no interior whatsoever so I'll probably try and modify one of Ed Flucks t'n'r interiors from a 50s ford.

I decided the roof looked too long so I've made it into more of a coupe. I also found a cadillac engine (currently in stripper) that I think I'll use instead of the chevy. I think I'll add some more plastic to the rear fender so I can add el matador style scoops as the hard edge isn't really working with the curves of the rest of the body

Yes! As soon as I saw "'37 Ford/53 Corvette" I got my hopes up that it would be a custom and not just an engine swap, but then I recognized the project from several years ago. One of my faves! Glad to see this build pop up again. The shortened roof looks great. I think some added plastic to extend the scoops and remove that sharp vertical demarcation between the 'vette fenders and the Ford body would be an excellent idea. Caddy mill sounds good too!

So I took this to work with me for something to do when i'm bored, which since my job is just to sit on a boat overnight happens quite often, lol. I decided the front wasn't to my liking so i cut the fenders off from half way and used lots of curved bits of plastic to rebuild the lights and make a new grille area. At the rear I started making an imperial style rear light but its not working how i want it so i might use 2 edsel grilles for the light housing with large red lenses. I've also got rid of the rear side windows for no reason other than I wanted to try something with the fingernail filler i use and it seems to have worked sort of ways. I now need to figure out how to fit the fenders to the body as they snapped off the floor part which considering they have only had a couple of mm each side holding them wasn't really a surprise. I think the next job will be a suitably 60s interior. I'll prob scratchbuild a dash in a 59 impala style but entirely custom. I need to trim down the hood sides too as they are still a little deep. I think the doors are the only stock part of the 37 left now/DSC07841.thumb.JPG.9844cbed0b0224da7c1733481017dace.JPGDSC07842.thumb.JPG.844cf334f7f4992a616fec30b285f14e.JPGDSC07840.thumb.JPG.a0f217b7b796a97090bd597b592b0263.JPG

Haha, crazy! Glad to see this one back on the bench again. I'm digging the way the rear side scoops are blended in better now! The oval opening in the rear is cool too.  Personally I would have put quad single buckets on the front (like Cushenbery's Marquis) but the variety is part of what makes these wild kustoms so fun :D

Man...I'm going right to my bench to revive my own full-custom '40 project. It deserves to be finished.

I like the horizontal quad headlight treatment. have you considered removing an inch or two from the top

Thanks, I considered it but with it being sectioned i felt nobody would be able to fit in it to drive. During my searches for similar style cars i noticed there were some that didn't have a chop either and i liked how they looked so i went that way instead
