Karl LaFong Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) The decals in the latest issue of the AMT1965 Lincoln inspired me to do a surf wagon. After several false starts, including a straight ahead convertible, I finally finished it. I was going for an early '60's vibe, so I switched out the bench seat for buckets, the steering wheel from the AMT '51 Chevy, center console from the Johan '64 Rambler American, surfboard from the Revell 1937 Ford truck, scuba gear from the Monogram Blue Bandito, and photo-reduced copies of Surftoons and Surfing magazine. With the exception of wheels from the '67 GTO Weekend Warrior, and window decals, the rest of the build is out of the box. The license was made with Acme Plate Maker, and the exterior paint is Model Master Turquoise enamel, decanted and sprayed with an airbrush. The woodgrain decals were a bear to apply! Lobo2me Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Cowabunga dude...great job! Really like all the detail and accessories. Thought you might get a kick out of my surf mobile. Recreated my 1965 VW Bus and my two boards I had back in the day. Surfs up...gotta go! 1
Jantrix Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Terrific! I did a surf Lincoln as well, very different from yours. May I ask how you did the tinting?
oldscool Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 That looks really good! I see you added a cross bar above the rear window. I was planning on doing the same thing to mine.
cobraman Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Perhaps the best i have seen of that version. Very nice !

I've been going to Long Beach Island NJ for 40+ years and pass the store on the way in and out of the island.
espo Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 Great looking wagon. I like the way you did your interior with all the accessories.

Grabbed images off the internet and ran a sheet thru the inkjet with Coor's logos, magazine covers, 8-track labels and the Endless Summer poster. Bought my first "new" surfboard from RonJon in Cocoa Beach in 1968 when they operated out of an old 7-11 store. A fraction of what it is now! 1
alan barton Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 So nice! The colour really lightens up the bulk of the Lincoln. I have some speedboats in need of a towcar - time to crack the cellophane! Cheers Alan 1
1972coronet Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 Sweet Lincoln! It'd look right at home here in So Cal. Reminds me of something one may see in a 1960's surf & beach film (think: Don't Make Waves).
restoman Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Very nice! I'm doing my own version of a Lincoln Surf Wagon, and yes: those decals are a bear!
David G. Posted September 5, 2022 Posted September 5, 2022 Great looking surf wagon! Love the color and all the visible interior details. David G.
