are the wheels decent in this version of the kit?

I like the sort of turbine wheels, that's why I sprung for this kit.  I built the other version with the "normal" wheels which are okay too.  I lucked out having road tires that should work, and not be too wide (a peeve of mine with this kit).

Snagged one of these 1/3 scale Porsche type 547 4-cam engine kits for WAY under market; open box, mostly sealed inner packets, absolutely complete.

I bought a badly blown 547 engine, with a hole in the case where a rod went through it, many many years ago before the things had appreciated to being worth the cost of a nice house. I got the blown engine for little more than scrap value...about the time a business associate bought a running 550 Spyder, with one of these engines in it, for 5 grand!

It's one of the few now-all-but-unattainable things I was smart enough to hang on to. Over the eons I also acquired a no-number replacement set of cases, and a plain-bearing crank (the box o' bits I bought was an early roller-crank version). The plan all along was to find an engineless Porsche to stick it in, and it's one of the reasons I bought the VW-powered Beck 550 Spyder replica way back in 1995.

Building up this little gem will, hopefully, spur my enthusiasm to finish getting the real one back together. With the value of a full-scale 547 engine being what it is today, the cost of having new pistons, rods, and a few gears made is well worth it.

Something of a theme to my purchases from a couple of sellers this week:

IMG_5497.JPG.e75782931c603d9ad227d5729b3066ba.JPG

The "Tools 2" set contained some resin/3D printed chassis stands and the photo-etch toolbox, which itself retails at something like £13 online. Thinking that I'll assemble a pair of the garage bases for photographing/displaying larger cars then keep the antique one as more of a hobby scene for smaller vehicles. Already got some other tools which I need to get on with.

The Mitsubishi is an odd thing, certainly not 1/25!

Real nice garage tools and diorama item and 2 great car kits!

Nice score! I am a huge fan of these huge scale cars (and bikes).

Picked up one of these at the Atlantic Nationals car show last weekend.

Something different for me but I've always liked these GT cars. Nice curbside kit and I think I'll see about getting some more of the kits in this series.

Cool. My uncle Walter has a real one of those in about the same color as the plastic of that kit. ?

Thanks!

The first issue Big T was the one I needed to complete my collection of the first four rods (plus a first issue Vette and a later issue Big T).

Another vintage Mopie for my stash arrived from eBay.  Unpainted, complete except for missing the instructions and stock wheels and tires.   Plan to use some Iceman big and little 70s style wheels and tires.

Nice score! The extra parts in this kit alone are well worth the discount pricing and the decal sheet is really nice. I lke the bamboo side paneling and the vintage surfboards and racks.

Picked one of these up at ole Ollie’s. Got it open, and guess I got a lemon. Enough flash to mold a full kit, one side of the van the mold around the door is basically non existent. Tires, rims, and decals are great so worth $12.99 typical 80 year old outdated mold from the good folks who ThRiVe for the details ?

Yeah besides the two sets of tires, decals, and 2 sets of rims. The surfboards, and parts are the cleanest in the whole kit lol. I’ll probably snag another one to see if I can get a better body. They had this one in the pic too there.

Jealous! You have a Big Drag...I'll probably have to make my own clone from parts before I ever snag one of those.

Got my shipment today from Texas 3D customs.  Which included a few sets of the new Super Swamper Bogger tires. Now while these tires are advertised as 1/24 I'm happy to report that I got them to work with 1/25 wheels that I already have many of. I can only imagine that they will work with 1/24 wheels as well. Thanks you Charles.  I will have to order more as I thought they came in sets of 4. Here's a little mick up with the resin Sububan and 1/15 rims from the GMC Deserter kit. These are nice and welcome tires.

Been waiting for quite a while for one of these and then a friend offered me one.  Yeah, it will complete my J Car collection.

A few days back I posted an extremely rare kit of Dean Jeffries' Mantaray.

I finally found a not-too-expensive copy of the definitive book on the man and his cars.

Picture 1 of 14

And a spectacular 3D printed engine for the Mantaray, by Mad Mike, from Model Builder's Warehouse.

It'll need different valve covers and ignition, but man...this thing is gorgeous.
