Ajay
I was thinking to myself the other day that the UK didn't really have a customising scene in the 50's to anywhere near the extent of the one in the States at that time. That got me thinking what if there was a budding Barris in the UK in the 50's who decided to build a leadsled using traditonal techniques on a British car of the period. Not many cars to choose from in kit form but I thought that the Tamiya Jaguar MkII might fit the bill an set to work.with the "torch" & "lead". The body's been converted to 2 door chopped hardtop and the the front & rear ends have been "tidied up" to make them a little less "busy". The fender skirts are from evergreen plastic sheet. Thanks for looking. Edited October 23, 2013 by Ajay
Shardik
Cool concept, and very nice execution so far. I'll be watching this one. Tally Ho!
kratvmnd
Great concept! I love cars that are built using ideas and techniques from a different period that normally would not be used on that style car. Good start, keep it up! Ace-Garageguy
Yup, mo' debinately kewl. I've wanted to see a buildup of this particular kit for a while, and your interpretation is just spot-on.

Brianl
Jaguar did do a 1:1 clay of a 2 door Mark 2 & it was probably one of the most beautiful Jags to me. I think they dropped it as it would have competed against the XK in the market. Really looking forward to following this one!! Always thought a Mark 10 would work too. Its pretty well a sled out of the factory but I don't think there is a kit of it. Brian
peekay
Very nice work. I wouldn't have thought one should mess with the MKII but that's a really tastefull shape you've created there. It's a shame there aren't more kits of English cars in this scale. Bennyg
I love these old jags, but I think this might improve it more. Ben

TimJ
Great idea and nice work so far. The fender skirts reminded me that some early Jaguar Mk1's had them fitted as standard. http://www.conceptcarz.com/view/photo/79396,2377/1956-Jaguar-MK1_photo.aspx
drball
Ingenius. I would like a how-to since I got an extra kit to mess with.
charlie8575
Now that's a pretty car! I can see it in a nice navy blue with tan hides. Narrow-stripe whitewalls (think about the Modelhaus U.S. Royal Masters- I think they'd look great on that). Charlie Larkin
beeRS
This is a great idea Andy, and what a good kit base to start from. Tamiya's kit of the mk11 is great. I've often looked at it and though it would make the great basis for a custom. It looks like you have at least two of these kits so you could build one stock for comparison. Inspector Morse would be impressed!
KingSix
Genius stuff !!! I'll be watching this one .. did you move the front fender edges back, flush with the grill ? Or is that an optical illusion ? Either way, awesome stuff
