Forum Troubleshooting - Picture Problems w/Internet Explorer? Look Here
blunc replied to Sixx's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
you may find it difficult to actually uninstall/get rid of Internet Exploder. you can force the emails to open with Chrome as long as you are prepared to have the file type that Hemmings sends their Daily emails in opened in Chrome by "right clicking" the email file and choosing "open with" from the menu, you then have to choose Chrome from a list presented or go browsing for it and make sure that the "always open files of this type with this program" box is checked before you click the Okay button. -
interesting...this post got moved to the wrong thread. it was supposed to be in the thread about MCM issue #193 (but I might be mistaken...)
-
I'm just happy that there is MCM at all...and that I can get it delivered to my house. Maybe there are other reasons for your issue not being in your hands yet that MCM has no control over. Are you saying slot cars are lame or that the new magazine is lame? I'd have to see the magazine before I'd say it was lame and even then I probly wouldn't call it lame since I doubt the guys publishing it would send out rectal emissions.

I wonder if they're gonna put the updated Roch-Craft Q-Barrel carb on it... the only carb that guarantees NO emissions. -
Engine block halves don't align
blunc replied to Speedfreak's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
we well, that's a little hard to answer but in an exhaust system designed to have the same amount of exhaust scavenging for each cylinder, the headers would be staggered also. to have them end at the same point (mirrored) would change performance seen from each head/cylinder. there's a whole lot of science behind engine performance and how an engine "breathes"... what comes in must get out but there are many factors to consider to get the performance out of an engine for the purpose intended. -
Engine block halves don't align
blunc replied to Speedfreak's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
there are a lot of V-type (V12, V10, V8,etc) engines that have the heads offset...I'd guess by the width of a piston connecting rod. I suggest aligning the engine halves so that the ridges of the bell housing line up then make any corrections to the other parts of the block that don't appear correct. -
I'll say you nailed also. (I think the brakes are gonna be a bit hard without a hose to the brake booster)

I like it. I wonder how it would look with a 25% chop on the windshield...

a little work on the trunk gap and lip, evergreen is my friend. This will NOT be ready for DSC-11 since I'm not going to cut corners on my builds like I used to. I'll see if "Plan B" will work.
-
I see it has that experimental "air ride" suspension. I'll be watching the magic.

got mine too, I appreciate Harry's hard work! (now if only the word "Pomoma" hadn't appeared next to California...DOH!)

I guess in a galaxy far far away they don't need no stinking wheels.
-
my first impression of it was "Jensen Interceptor" but that didn't match so tracked down some Jensen history and found the inspiration for the Interceptor design and there was the Brasinka.

I'm guessing they don't make a "chapstick" for this problem...unless it's a bat.

BIG ! No, not the movie.

here's a "rivet" for ya... it would be a new "issue", not a new "magazine"... (just saying...)

1/25 Revell Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon 2'n'1
blunc replied to Matt T.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I think without the "non" in the middle, it would mean that you WANT the bastages to grind you down. that wiki thing has variants of this "mock-latin" phrase. -
Trumpeter included PE hood hinges in their 1960 Pontiac Bonneville kits but I haven't gotten around to working on them yet. From what I have seen, most builders give up on them.
-
it's a Pyro/Lifelike/Lindberg '57 Chevy convertible kit... 1/32 scale, which means that after cutting open the hood, I get to build in an engine bay and an engine. The engine (and all the red plastic parts & wheels) in the photo is from a 1/32 scale Z28, the engine has been sculpted a bit to improve appearance and install an injection manifold from an undersized 1/25 scale motor. I haven't finished cutting open the doors yet because I still need to stabilize the door sill area, that will most likely be done after all the body work has been completed. The front bench will probly get removed in favor of the Z28 bucket seats. I'm considering going with a Chezoom-like style on this due to some of the seemingly misproportioned aspects of this kit. At this point I'm a little envious of the guys with lathes, I really need to make some hoops for the wheels to give me a little of that "deep dish" look on the rear wheels.

thanks for the interest, I'll try not to disappoint.

nope, it's Pyro/Lifelike/Lindberg with some parts I robbed from a Monogram Z28 kit. lots of "bashing" going on here.

yeah, I know... but at least I finally get to start working on something.
