  1. Excellent build! I'm just starting this kit and have been doing a bit of 1:1 research. The kit's instruction book says to paint the engine block a metal color but I've also seen 1:1 pics showing a large variety of different engine block colors. Was curious if anyone has any info about 1:1 engine block colors for Land Rovers of this era? In some of my research, it almost looks like the factory painted the engine block in the same paint color used on the body... is that a possibility?
  2. 1/16 scale? 1/24 scale? 1/25 scale? 1/43 scale? 1966? 1967? 1968? 1969? 1970? 1971? 1972? 1973? 1974? 2005? 2006? 2018? 2021? I'm not trying to be a "smart-a__" here, but your description doesn't really "say it all". Please provide as many details as you can whenever making a Wanted post... I don't think it's possible to provide too much information about what you are seeking... and pictures are extremely helpful, too! Thanks
  3. Everything looks terrific on this build, but I especially applaud your spark plug wiring... it looks so 1:1 and I will be referring back to your engine pic every time I start wiring an engine for one of my own builds!
  4. Really like the new box art, but one thing that looks a bit "off" in the illustration to me is how close that front bumper is to the body and grill... the 1/1's front bumper extends forward quite a bit farther than it appears in this nicely done artwork.
  5. Nice build... especially when accomplished in 24 hours! I started thinking about where I would start if I were to attempt a build in 24 hours, and I can't answer my own question! Did you start with painting major components, like the body, interior tub, chassis? Then, while those are drying start on the engine and wheels? Anyone who's done a 24 hour build, help me understand your method!
  6. Stunning work here! Your modifications, detail, paint and weathering work are all exceptionally good. I have always wondered what motivated the truckers of the day to nickname these "Crackerboxes"... curious if it was just the way these cabovers felt like after logging a few hundred miles in one or if there's more to that nickname.
  7. Two outstanding builds! I often rate how much I like a build based on a question I ask myself, "How much would I like to have that model as a 1:1 parked inside my garage?" About 3-6 times a year, I see a build where the question's answer would be a resounding, "Yes!" I gotta say "Yes!" to that little White beauty you've posted here!
  8. Really like this build! Where did you get the tires for this build; did they come in the Moebius kit?
  9. Hopefully some pics tomorrow from the DAAM show. I see where the hardtop is being listed at some retail sites as having a trailer with it... wondering if it'll be the same trailer that was inside the convertible kit or maybe a different trailer?
  10. Stunning build... simply stunning!
  11. SteveG: Any updates regarding the upcoming '68 Coronet Hardtop release; can we still expect release in March/ April 2024?
  12. Funny timing for me as just last night I started cutting the lower rear quarter panels out of a 65 El Camino body to graft into my 65 Chevelle AWB body to get it to a standard wheelbase.
  13. Got my '65 Chevelle AWB Funny Car kit delivered a few days ago. FYI: I decided to remove the chrome treatment on several of the engine parts and used my usual Easy-Off oven cleaner stripping method that works every time for me. On this kit, the chrome came off as usual, but the layer beneath the chrome stayed on the parts as a gooey residue that took a lot of extra effort to remove and in some deep recesses on the parts never came completely clean. Just wanted to provide this heads-up.
  14. Stunning build... simply spectacular!
  15. "Sad mouth" cars... never heard that one before and it made me belly-laugh, too!
  16. Great looking build! I have this same kit just started, so I'll be revisiting this post frequently to steal some of your added details for my own build... thanks!
  17. A work of art; simply spectacular! Most convertibles I see with their top in the up-position look a bit awkward to my eyes, but I really like the look of your build with the top up; it looks terrific either way!
  18. Really like this build! I'm curious how you did the headlights as they look terrific in your photos, (or are they just the kit chrome and the photography lighting makes them look so good)?
  19. This is an impressive build to me! Your interior looks excellent has well! I'm curious about that detailed hood ornament and the Cadillac emblem on the trunk lid; how did you do those so crisply?
  20. Anyone have any suggestions as to what my next steps might be? I'm thinking of adding a styrene strip across the top of the windshield frame and at the base of the C-pillars to raise the entire roof upwards to eliminate that chopped-roof look; also considering sanding the top edges of the door to drop that edge down a bit... thoughts, anyone? Also, any suggestions regarding that back window opening?
  21. The other problem I found was that my attempt also resulted in what looks like a chopped-roof to me... and adding drip rails will only make this worse.
  22. The bad side window shape on the AMT kit troubled me as well. My attempts to correct it included adding styrene strips to not only flatten-out that upward-arch, but also to widen the roof at the side window openings so it lined-up better with the corners of the windshield frame once drip rails are added, (as seen in pic 1 below). I sorta gave-up when I couldn't come up with a plan for how to resolve the back window shape which still seems "off" to me, (as seen in pic 2 below).
  23. Not wanting to take this too far off-topic, but I think the issue with tooling located in China is that the Chinese government "gets to claim ownership of that tooling" no matter where the tooling was developed or who owned it in the first place... and the government has no interest in letting the tooling leave the country. Somewhat back on-topic, I have always liked these MPC Camaro kits even though they have their shortcomings, they always look good when finished. I believe many of the chassis parts underneath these Camaro kits were also used underneath the early-1970's MPC Firebird/Trans-Am kits which makes me wonder if a little cloning-work might bring those older Firebird kits back-to-life?
  24. Great looking build! I'm curious about you saying you made new mudflaps as I'm currently working on a Western Star build and wanting to improve the look of it's mudflaps. Can you provide us with a short description of what you did to create the mudflaps on this build; they have the "look" I'm seeking.
  25. Terrific looking build! One thing that troubled me about this kit was how the taillights looked after completion. I really like the way you handled those taillights on your build and I will be doing my best to duplicate the look you achieved with your taillights.
