  1. Two other characteristics of these kits that troubled me were the enormous opening in the firewall for the transmission and the large gaps underneath between the interior bottom and the inner door/inner body panels. The following two pics show my added-modifications for those two issues
  2. For many years I have looked hard at the reissued 1/25 AMT/Round2 1972 Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy kits, but paused when it came time to actually purchase one. I finally gave-in, and just recently started the Jimmy kit. This post will show you what I have done so far. First pics are of my completed engine inside the nearly-completed chassis. One thing that immediately troubled me regarding the engine was the overall length of the engine block; it seemed several scale-inches too long to my eyes. So I modified it, the oil pan and intake manifold to shorten its overall length. I also replaced some of the kit's engine parts with pieces I liked better from my parts box. In my attempt to make my build appear 5-10 years old, both engine and chassis have some weathering applied. Your comments, suggestions and/or criticisms are welcome.
  3. I'd bet she had that same "sly-smile" on her face after getting home from out-running the Japanese police!!! Great build and grandma's smile = a very memorable post!
  4. Alan's got me covered for everything I'm looking for except the hood... anybody out there got a new or used "Rat-Packer" hood in their parts box?
  5. I am looking to trade for some random parts from the 1/25 AMT/Ertl/Round2 "Rat-Packer" Altered-wheelbase Chevy-II kit. Looking for a hood, front bumper/grill, rear bumper and glass pieces only. These pieces can be fresh-from-the-tree or from a built-up if still in good, reusable condition. I have no interest in the Moebius kits, just looking for these AMT pieces. I understand this kit maybe reissued in the near-future, but wouldn't be purchasing a new kit for just these pieces; hoping for a good trade instead. Thanks.
  6. Stunning build! Extremely clean and your paint scheme is outstanding!
  7. Wow! The two-tone color scheme of this build is one I would never have imagined, but is awesome along with every other aspect of the build... really nice job!
  8. Great looking build! I'm curious what year this model represents... I imagine those 1:1's were manufactured for a number of years.
  9. Give me a day or two to do some digging for the Johan sheets I might have.
  10. Are you interested in any 1/25 Johan model car kit instruction sheets?
  11. As much as many of us would like to see the different Oldsmobile's and Buick's you mentioned "come-back-to-life", I am doubtful any of those subjects ever will for the very reasons you also stated.
  12. I generally don't like to criticize other people's creative work, but the expressions on the people in that Trans Am box artwork look like a kidnapping-situation to my eyes.
  13. Excellent save of what is in my opinion the finest-looking of all of the mid-1960's A-bodies from General Motors!
  14. Congrats on that 2nd Place finish; I'd be very proud of that! Your rear view mirrors look so simple yet so realistic, can you provide us with some pointers on how you scratch built them?
  15. FYI: Joseph is fully-recovered from his accident and Fireball is back-up and running. Ordered a 4-tire set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires and they arrived in one week... fabulous products!
  16. Thanks for sharing this article. I had no idea that so many kits appeared in this series! Great look back; might inspire me to pull one of my kits from the series and bring it to active-status on my work bench!
  17. FYI: Went to my local Hobby Lobby to browse the kits and when I got to the checkout was informed that as of 03-01-22, the 40%-Off Coupon has been discontinued and will no longer be available.
  18. Here's how the chassis in my kit looks from the front.
  19. Anyone have an issue with a warped chassis in this latest release? The warp on mine seems to start just in-front of the rear fender mount location and moves forward so the mis-alignment is quite big at the very front of the chassis. I doubt I could get a replacement from Round2 tho. Haven't tried correcting it with the hot water method yet as I'm kinda afraid it would be pretty easy to break. Thoughts anyone?
  20. Wasn't aware that Round2 was bringing this Mustang kit outta the archives! I have an old built-up that is awaiting restoration but if this kit returns as originally produced I'll probably have to get one. It's interesting to see how the 3-spoke steering wheel is on the chrome parts tree; I can see a single wheel ring in the unplated parts that must go together making the finished steering wheel, unusual kit technology that isn't seen in very many kits.
  21. Great looking build! Your paint, decal and details work is awesome! Ever since these Pontiac Lemans kits were issued, I have wondered if they are somewhat inaccurate when it comes to the overall size of the body... I thought the 1:1 Nascar Lemans of this era were an overall-smaller/mid-sized car with a shorter wheelbase and not as large as these kit bodies are, (as they were made to fit the pre-existing Monogram chassis). Anyone else have any thoughts regarding the overall size of these Leman's Nascar kit's?
  22. Wow! Phenomenal build! Captures the 1:1 in every way! I admire your other sedan delivery builds as well; they all look stunning!
  23. Having spent a good portion of my career in contact with retail product packaging artists, suppliers and printers, (and designing some packaging myself), I might suggest that in many cases product packages that seem like a "miss" become that way due mostly to time-constraints. Much time is invested in product development and production and as that comes to a finish, it's "Wait... what about the packaging?" This is certainly not the blame everytime, but many times it is... just sayin'.
