Got an email this afternoon from Model Roundup; my pre-order is on it's way to me... hallelujah! -
Any news of Revell do something this year !

Looks like a couple of kits I'll be wanting to purchase here... any idea what kit has "leaked-into" the bottom of that Henry-J photo? Looks like it might be an early-1970's Mopar. -
Beautiful build! It's too bad these old Desoto and Chrysler kits are long-gone and unlikely kits for a new-n-improved new tooling.

Stunning build! Your paintwork is phenomenal. It's a bit of a shame that the Hemi Shaker air cleaner is so large that it hides some many engine details... sure would be fun to have a 1:1 of this build parked inside my garage!

Fantastic build! Sure would like to see a picture or two of it sitting on its own wheels!

This is my 2nd completion for 2021, although this build actually started way back in the mid/late-1990's... I decided it was time to drag it to the finish-line. This is the 1/25 AMT/Ertl 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 kit. Back-story is my wife's best friend in high school, Gigi, (in the late-1970's), was given a used, 1:1 1969 SS396/4-speed in Pale Yellow by her parents for her 17th birthday, (wish I had parents like that). Gigi drove her car everywhere, and my wife was her constant-companion. After owning it for nearly a year, Gigi got good enough at driving it well that she occasionally street-raced it against the local high school boys on Friday and Saturday nights, with some success too, as my wife recalls! The local guys said "Gigi" stood for "Guts and Glory" as she displayed both when street racing. My wife told me she really liked Gigi's '69 Chevelle and had a lot of fun in it, but her personal-favorite would've been a 1970 in Blue with a Blue interior; hence this build with my wife's nickname on the license plates. Paintwork is old and rough, but I did add some scratchbuilt details to bring a little life to this build. Comments always welcome!

Well; sorta available now... if you're willing to pay that crazy Ebay price and have it ship from Japan! -
Just as I expected; outstanding craftsmanship underneath as well... this is an exceptional build!

Stunning build! Your paintwork looks phenomenal as well as the decal work. Even without underhood reference I think you nailed that engine and compartment and I think the same thing regarding the chassis... nicely done!

Jaguar XKE/ Corvette Sting Ray - Deadman's Curve
'70 Grande replied to RandyB.'s topic in Model Cars
Great builds! The size-comparison between these two cars surprises me a bit; in my mind the XKE seems like it would be a slightly-overall larger car than the Corvette, but your builds really make that XKE seem petite. -
Really nice build! Sure would like to see some underhood pics and also what that T-bird chassis looks like underneath... but please take it inside for those pics!

Green Jeep Finished!

Really like these salvaged Jeeps! The color of this one has inspired me to get the same color on a project that I have in the works! -
My parents had 4 family-room "lounge" chairs in that Black-n-White pattern seen at the right-edge of the photo... my dad's poker-playing buddies would come over on Saturday nights for a "late-in-the-evening" poker match, and after drinking Manhattans for a few hours, they'd say looking at those chairs they were sittin'-in might make 'em puke... pretty sure that happened more than a few times!!!
-
Love this build! What color is the main body color... I've got a project that I'd like to use a color just like yours.

Wow! I always look with unknown anticipation at these "Restoration" posts, and this particular one has to be one of the finest examples that I have ever seen posted. What an amazing transformation... extremely well done!

Does anyone have any insight regarding when this kit might be shipping out from our online retailers to those who have already pre-ordered one? I know it should be sometime in March, but anyone that can suggest if it might be early, mid or late-month? (I'm pretty excited about this kit landing in my mailbox soon)!

My first completed build for 2021. Some of you may have seen some of my previous posts of this build in the WIP Nascar section awhile ago. It was intended to be a fictitious, circa 1965 USAC Race car, but my USAC decals fell-apart in the application-process, so I used Nascar decals instead. Here's the back-story: "A moderate-sized Chevrolet dealership in the Midwest had two mechanics, (Bert & Frank), on-staff that owned and raced a dirt track jalopy on the regional, 1/4-mile dirt tracks, with some reasonable success. Knowing of their local racing successes, and wanting to take the dealership into a more racing/performance image, the dealership owner offered a car for them to transform into a race car and take out on the Nascar race circuit for a few races each year. In the early-summer of 1961, this Chevrolet Impala was pulled-off the dealer lot, and went into the Service/Repair Dept. to be torn-down and transformed into a Nascar race car. Bert & Frank, (working late-nights after the dealership had closed), did most of the work, with help from others in that Service/Repair Dept. By mid-August, 1961, the car was ready to attempt to qualify for the Grand National, (Nascar) 200-lap, 1/4-mile dirt track race held Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds in Spartanburg, S. Carolina, with Bert behind the wheel. Bert qualified the car to start 20th on the grid, and he worked his way all the way up to 7th place before falling back in finish 14th at the checkered flag. The car took a few dents and dings, but held-up well throughout the event. The car was patched-up and ran three more short-track, Grand National races to finish its 1961 season. When the 1962 Grand National, (Nascar) season started, hopes were high and the dealership owner found more funding to support this newfound, but limited racing effort. Bert drove the car in 18 Grand National races in 1962, with a best finish of 9th place and 5 DNF's. There wasn't a lot of money won, but the dealership owner was willing to run a limited 1963 season with this same car and Bert behind the wheel. Bert drove the car in 20 Grand National races in 1963, with a best finish of 7th place and 6 DNF's. The plans were to continue on with virtually the same effort for the 1964 season, but when the first two races ended in DNF's and the best finish of the first 10 races run that year was a 17th, the dealership owner's hopes began to quickly fade. By mid-summer, the owner announced to Bert and Frank that this would be their last year of racing this now-old 1961 Impala in Grand National races. It finished 1964 running in 16 races, with 7 DNF's. There was no funding left for replacing bent-up fenders and freshening-up the paintwork; the car was to be run with just the necessary mechanical work completed, and little else." So I present to you the #31, 1961 Chevrolet Impala Grand National, (Nascar), Race Car at the end of the 1964 racing season, with a 58-race career under its belt.
