I think it was just based on the futuristic trend going on at the time. But if someone has real info on it, I would like to hear it as well

Yes, the boat, and all the other goodies from Revell. All of those accessories are made on trees separate from the host kit. They could be made and sold as Parts Pack type kits and sold that way. I am pretty sure those molds exists considering the recent re-use of the Snow Mobile in the Jeep Pick Up. Now the question is, will Revell Germany want to use them?

Well, don't forget that this was recently released as well. All they have to do is basically change the wheels and delete the Monster suspension and wheels.

You mean these.....

It might be this one....

You want to know the state of the hobby? It's simple! Just look at AMT about to tool up a 1/25 scale kit from a T.V. Show that has been off the air since March of 1967! Before I was born later that year! LOL! And the show only lasted One Season!! If that does not say 'We Are Catering To The Boomers" I don't know what does! LOL! We, Gen X, are lucky we did not have the modern day distractions and thus had to rely on physical activities, reading, Television and our own crazy imaginations! And the model companies catered to us at those times. Revell made all of these Adventure Kits with extra goodies and we ate them up! So maybe in about 10 more years, I am 54 now, they will start making more A Team Vans or something more obscure. As for kids today, I am not going to worry about it, as long as I had fun with my hobby, they can figure it out themselves!

And if you really want to get weird.....

The car hobby can be a giant and beautiful buffet of cars. And just like a buffet, there is stuff you like and stuff you pass, but in the end, it is the same buffet. And now, more than ever, the hobby needs to stick together. The Environmental types are beginning to dictate what does and doesn't go with Gas cars, especially modified or vintage types. In California they have held the line to a certain point, but dark clouds are in the horizon. Some states are more free and loose, but here, we are under siege, and they don't care how cool or not your Gas car is. And to be honest, it gets boring seeing the same thing at certain shows or meets, It is good when something catches your eye, something different, good or bad. So it is ok not to like something, but just take it easy on the hate part. OK, I am done with this thread. I'm out!

Looks like a pack of Tic Tacs!

Yeah, MPC was trying to cash in and did not take everything into consideration. They had lots of Entertainment licenses going and tried their best to cash in. The most successful being the General Lee, and that was a hodge podge of parts.

This thread needs to end the way most threads end around here regardless of the topic , with the discussion about some MOPAR kit they need to make again and how wrong the hub caps are!
-
But they are on the other side! LOL! Yeah, the new ones are neat, but a bit hokey to me. Either way, glad to see it coming back

Hey! It's another "Get Off My Lawn" thread!

Swung by a local Walmart and decided to check their clearance aisle, and this is what I found. They also had a couple of Coca Cola Trailers, but I decided to take the last two car kits. Really wanted only the Vega, but, if I find cheap kits, I snap them up for our Raffle at the next Model Expo show.

I think I like the original decals better than the new ones, by a bunch!

Kit looks pretty accurate! LOL!

The seat is designed for the Ramchargers body, the top is supposed to sit on the body to give it that snapped down vinyl cover look.

Looks like the combined the original and the last decal artwork in the Rams kit. It will be nice to build a more original looking car!
