From the Atlantis site re: Aurora molds
Daddyfink replied to Reegs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Other than was is the "latest" info, most of this has already been learned. We know about the wreck, the damaged molds, Monogram getting rid of things and molds just disappearing into some cave. And in the end the message is basically, don't ask about what we have. Thanks to Ed Sexton for saving what he could. -

Yellow Fever Competition Coupe, Keeler's Kustoms
Daddyfink replied to stavanzer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Ford engine, parts pack 427, is miles ahead of the Hemi that comes in the JJ Camaro. The Hemi in the Camaro was also used as a Ford Cammer in Mustang and Maverick funnie, and the Willys and Henry J kits. It is pretty bad. Unless they totally tooled up something new, which I highly doubt. -
AMT 1974 RR/Satellite Funny Car Buildup with minor mods...
Daddyfink replied to tim boyd's topic in Drag Racing
I was always baffled as to why the put center caps on the rear rims. Very odd. You did a very nice job from a very weird kit. -
I would say it is, and only because the only other Stude Funny was the AMT kit. The Miss Deal kit is a great source of early drag parts!

You just gave me an idea.... Mongoose Body with a Troublemaker Chassis
-
Oh, not at all, but they where not that huge as on the kit. and pairing it with low profile threaded tires makes it even more odd to me.

Just a little, but at least they are trying https://m.facebook.com/AtlantisToyAndHobby/posts/h1440-jungle-jim-camarotooling-was-updated-restored-hemi-engine-and-back-wheels-/4387402164673283/

Originally issued in 1971 as the Heavy Hugger And then as the Jungle Jim car in 1973 This was Revell trying to get into the Drag Kit scene, but sadly they are terribly inaccurate kits. The kits that followed where some of the best in business No, I am just pointing out other options for decals. I know we have been spoiled by Round 2 decals, but honestly, I would not really want to waste more decals on this thing than what it comes with.

Well, there is always Slixx

History of Revell's Buttera Street Rod Series
Daddyfink replied to Fabrux's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's not an argument, or at least I didn't think it was. I am just pointing out that it was the same kit. But, if Tim Boyd agrees with you, then it must be true. Case settled! -

So without any knowledge of having one on hand, and just going by a picture, you assume it is an MPC kit body? Come on! -

No, it's the same body. Just a different shot angle that makes the difference. -

Well, I would gladly pay the price if this where a brand new and full detail tool, but it is not. It is an old curbside style tool that was only slightly updated with a few new parts, and if they did not include the original GB parts, less parts in the box! And as times get tougher, some folks are shying away from such purchases, and some realize this is not worth that kind of money. If you have stock in the company, then you are investing, otherwise, you are just a consumer. Round 2 has their money from the shops that sell you the kit, now it is up to the shop to get a return on their investment. All you are showing Round 2 is that you are willing to buy stuff like this and that will just encourage them to keep pumping it out. -
I don't know why there is so much hanky wringing over a 45 year old kit! They have only slight "Updated it" and kept pumping it out. Why would they change it now? Most of you forget they released this kit the same year they released the Camaro! LOL! Yeah, that Camaro!

1/25 AMT Surf Shark 1959 Cadillac Ambulance
Daddyfink replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Sorry, my price was a bit off, it is actually more! And for a few more bucks, you can buy a Hasegawa, Tamiya or other import kit! And no, this kit just does not rank that high in quality to me! The crazy part is that I just picked up the Californian kit and that was only $32!! -

The Ford 289 in those kits could be used as a V6! That thing is tiny! -
