  1. Amazing! I don't know what else too say.
  2. Guess what showed up on doorstep on a Sunday. The '48 Ford Police Coupe model. Heck. I didn't even know the USPS delivered on Sundays. Naturally, I had to pull the body to compare it to the Custom Coupe kit. Interesting. I don't which roof I like better. The stock roofline, or the chopped one? They both look pretty good to me. The one thing that really stands out between the two kit bodies is the engraving of the door and trunk lines. They're very shallow on the Custom Coupe. They are deeper and stand out better on the "stock" Police Coupe. The lines are so shallow on the Custom Coupe, it's makes me wonder what they'll be like after paint has been applied? They should be okay. I guess we'll see.
  3. From that point of view I agree. It's your model. You have to be happy with it. Not me.
  4. Oh. P.S. I'm sorry. But, the one thing I don't like on your model are the tentacles. I think they distract from your model. Rather than ad anything to it. They're to busy. If it's to hide seams, I wouldn't worry about that. No matter how you built the the original kits, there are going to be seams. And they look fine from what I'm seeing of your kit.
  5. I never really though about this before. A problem I see with a real centaur, is the way it's designed. Just to fill up the body cavities it would need two sets of organs. Just like your model shows, Chris. How practical is this design in real life? Not very. But being a mythological creature, practically really doesn't matter in the long run. This is brought up in no way to criticize your model Chris. It's great! It just got me thinking. I'm sorry. I can't help it! All those organs, and only one..... Okay, I better quit.
  6. Was the kit any good? And is that the same kit they've had on the selves in recent years? I have little to know interest in the kit itself. If it's not a Beech, I'm not a big fan of smaller civilian aircraft. But, I do love the box art. Sure gives that feeling of flying. And I love the local. Lakes, woods, and mountains. It looks like heaven to me.
  7. Wasn't it great?
  8. Argh! I hate that when you try add your own text under somebody else's text your quoting. Using an iPad, like I do, it shows only part of the box being worked in. And many times not at the point where your typing. To finish what I was going to say above. Again, always nice work Tulio. You are one of the masters at building beautiful Fords. And your work on '48 Fords, mainling the turds from IMC, amaze me. I also agree with fix for the Custom versions roof. Buy a stock version and build your own if you don't like. Though as noted, I do like it. So I'll be leaving well enough alone. One question to Tulio or any of the other Ford experts out there. The instructions the "stock" '48 Fords say to paint the underdash heater box a white color. Is this right? I can't find any photos on the web confirming this. It does not seem right to me. But, I maybe wrong.
  9. It's a small block Chev. Not a modified Poncho setup to look like SBC.
  10. Wow! The Piper Tri Pacer box art above, is great.
  11. Fun ads. Another good find. Thanks for sharing them with us Chris. By the way, I notice the bouncy kids in the Fury sure were sitting still when the big Texaco man was servicing the car. Must of scared the heck out of them. "We'll be good mommy. Just don't let the giant get us!" Ahhhh. The discipline of the 1960's. When you still allowed to threatened and terrorize your kids. "Be good. Or I'll tire you over to giant at Texaco. Who eats kids!" It works for me! ?
  12. A stock '51 Ford Victoria would be high on my list, if it is ever done. How cool would that be on the shelf? AMT's '49 Ford club coupe, '50 convertible, and a '51 Vicky sitting in a row. I don't know why AMT didn't do it back in the day?
  13. Mismatch of a Type-3 Squareback and a 412. I like it. Typical of variations VW seemed to like to do in other parts of the world. Cool.
  14. In today's mail I received both Revell's '48 Ford Convertible 2 'n 1 Good Guys kit. And Revell's '48 Ford Woody. Taking a quick look at them both. They make a nice compliment to my '48 Ford Custom Coupe I received earlier this week.
  15. Today's mail saw the delivery of both the '48 Ford Convertible, and the '48 Ford Woody Revell kits. Even though the '48 Ford Police Coupe was ordered first, it hasn't arrived yet. Fun to open up the ones I did get. I especially like the Convertible. It's the Good Guys 2 'n 1 version. As noted before, my plans for the Convertible are to build it completely stock, with the exception of the engine and the exhaust. There I'll be using the custom parts. By the way, I'm very pleased to see that the hop up speed equipment for the flathead in this kit, is not the same as what is found in '48 Ford Custom Coupe kit. Kudos to Revell for going that extra mile on that. It's nice to see variations on parts like that. Revell's '48 Ford Woody station wagon doesn't thrill me as much as the convertible. It looks like, with what's in the box, it's will build into a nice stock '48 Ford station wagon. Which is what I want to build. But, beyond that. It comes off a little boring. My kit, is kit #2540. Released back in 1998. It comes with a less thick instruction manual than the other two '48s I now have. It's a complete manual. But, just looks skimpy compared to the other two. And it comes in the dreaded, and cheap "donut box" style box that Revell/Monogram used for a short while in the late 1990's. Big and roomy. But flimsy, with ways for small to parts to escape from. Thankfully that experiment didn't last long. Now I just need to get the '48 Ford Police Coupe in my hands, and I'll have all four variations of Revell's very nice '48 Ford kits. It will be interesting to see the Custom Coupe and stock coupe bodies side by side for comparison. I suspect I'll be just as happy with it, as I am with the Custom Coupe. Interesting, a little over a week ago I thought the only '48 Ford model kit I needed or wanted was the old AMT 1:43 scale kit that I've had for several years now. But, looking at the three Revell kits I now have, I'm starting to like the looks of Ford's '48. It's a pretty nice looking car.
  16. Whoa! The two posted by RRR above, are beautiful! Very, very nice!
  17. A nice proper reissue of an old AMT classic.
  18. Yea. I too have no desire for FE3-X. But, the stock '85 4-4-2? Heck yea! This kit is now added to my list of must haves. Notice the stock 4-4-2 version even comes with a standup hood ornament. How cool is that? I miss car jewelry like that.
  19. 1965 300 was powered by a 413. The 440 came along in '66. But, for all practical purposes the two engines look the same on the outside.
  20. Interesting to see all the wonderful box art above. Despite all of that great box art, after you built a few models back then, you knew to trust the company logo even more. I like the box art above for th Revell '57 Chevy Sport Coupe, with the guy with the surf board and the two bikini clad women. Beautiful box art. But the kit inside? Just the tires alone that Revell put in their kits back then at the time would keep me away. The AMT kit '57 was so much better and easier to build. Plus the box art was pretty good. And it came with one piece soft vinyl tires. The Revell '57? Two piece hard plastic tires. Yeck! There are many kits I love for their box art. But, their content? That's another story.
  21. Again I love it. Not keen on the color. But, that's a personal choice. I picked up one as soon as they became available about a year ago. Need to get going on it one of these days. By the way, I'm thinking I'll be painting mine red.
  22. Another great review Chris. I watch everyone that is model related. Keep them coming.
  23. Great job on an old classic. I love just about anything that Tom Daniel designed. I own and have built several of his kits over the years. My last TD Beer Wagon, I got specific Mountain Dew decals designed for the kit. Painted it a very nice metallic green. And wa-lah, I have a very nice Mack for hauling my favorite beverage around (at least in my imagination).
