  4. I don't why. But, I found the above video cathartic. I've been there. Done that. I like the fact that his shoelaces were untied. Thankfully I haven't done anything like that in years. But, I do get it. Or did, at least at one time.

And by the way, I do watch your videos on YouTube also. I like the work you do. And respect the knowledge you have on Ford's specifically.
  7. To go along with the Revell '40 Ford Standard coupe kit. I bought from another vendor on eBay the correct dash board decals for the kit. The instrument decals Revell includes for their kit are correct for the '40 Ford Deluxe models. Not the Standard models. So there is a vendor out there offering correct ones. Even though it will probably be though to see when the kit is finished. I had to do it.
  8. If your not in a rush. Do what I do. I buy a lot of my paint on eBay. Prices are good. And I've had pretty good service from just about everybody I've ever dealt with on this. If you buy from somebody in this country, 99% of time you'll get whatever you want in less than week. Hobby stores overseas? May take a month or so. And I've been very lucky with buying paint on eBay. I've always gotten what I've ordered. And always in perfect shape. There are things I've purchased where I've had problems. But, never with paint or glue. Knock on wood!
  9. Because of the discussion here, Model Mountain received an order for two models from me this morning. One is for the Revell ProModeler '40 Ford convertible. The other for Revell's first issue of the stock '40 Ford Standard coupe. I wanted first issues of both models after seeing what you guys had to say here. And looking at other info on web. They each had the right parts for what I wish to build. Both will be built basically straight stock. With the exception of maybe using some of the speed equipment for the engine under the hood of the convertible. In general I like my models to represent factory stock cars one would buy off the show floor. This does create a slight problem with the coupe. Since the interior in the kit represents the Deluxe interior. Convertible no less. But I can over look this by saying that somebody really wanted a Deluxe coupe, but liked the front end of the Standard model better. And had Ford Custom build one them one. This will also be my excuse for leaving the grille and headlamp rings unpainted, in chrome. I like stock, factory built cars. But I'm not anal about it. By the way, I like the fact that the Revell stock '40 Fords come with the Columbia two speed rear ends. This was a Ford authorized accessory back in the day. And from what I've heard and read a very nice feature to have on a vintage Ford today. '40 Fords can cruise easily at 60 mph. But, they are much more comfortable doing it with a Columbia rear end. It's cool that Revell saw fit to put this in their kits.

  12. I'd love to see your comparison of AMT's and Lindberg's '40 Ford coupe kits. Your comparison of IMC's and Revell's '48 Ford coupes was great. Do you have a link to take us to your '40 comparison?
  13. About a month ago I got Revell's recently reissued '57 Chevy Black Widow kit. One that came with a Bel Air two-door sedan body in it, rather than the correct 150 body. I went to Revell's website to request a new body. It took them exactly three weeks to get me one. Which I think is very reasonable. I requested a new decal sheet for my Revell '32 Ford three-window coupe well over a year ago, and never got them. Finally I bought a set on eBay. But, overall I've had good luck dealing with Revell's customer service. Three to four weeks being the norm.
  14. How about trying lacquer paint designed for models? Since switching to lacquer, mainly Tamiya, I've had less problems with painting my models.
  15. Did you read my post above? I brought up the same thing. Though the "plain" non-wood LTD did not make an appearance until midway though the middle of the 1973 model year. Before that, the only LTD station wagon was the Country Squire. But also as noted, I can come up with a couple of excuses for having a 1970 LTD wagon without wood. And I read some other good ideas of how it could have been done, by others here.
  16. No thread to any of my builds. I haven't figured out a way to post pictures here, yet. Low detail with the Lindberg '40? I'm talking about their 1/25 scale coupe. It's no where near as bad as people think it is. The 1/32 scale Lindberg '40 convertible? That I don't know? I've never owned one.
  17. Well, I have Lindberg's Deluxe '40 Ford coupe. So I guess I really don't need the Revell Standard coupe since it's not right. After all, AMT's '39 (I know, really a '40) has basically the same front end.
  18. As far as I know, Country Squires all came with the fake wood. None of my dealer books from the era show a wood delete option. My thought, build it as a Country Sedan and claim that the early owner had an accident. And he liked the LTD/Country Squire front end better, and had it installed instead of the Galaxie/Country Sedan front end. Or you can claim it was a prototype of a wagon that Ford was considering. After all, they did starting in mid-1973 offering a Country Squire without the wood or the Country Squire name. Their new LTD station wagon. Say it's a very early prototype for that. That is what I'm doing with my AMT 1939 Ford. It can really only be built as a true '40, despite the '39 front end parts and taillights in the kit. My claim is that my '39 is a prototype for the '40 Ford that they really didn't want people notice. For that reason it's got the '39 front end and taillights. Heck it's a model. Right or wrong. It can be anything I want it to be. That's also why I'm okay with my MPC '76 Pontiac Ventura being factory stock, outside of the shaker hood. It's a prototype for the GTO they should have continued offering in '75, '76, and maybe beyond. So you can have a 1970 non-wood paneled, not a Country Squire, but LTD station wagon. Just like they started selling in the spring/summer of 1974.
  19. Interesting to know. So no version of the Standard '40 coupe is correct? That again is too bad.
  20. That's too bad. It sucks that Revell has a tendency to do that. Make you buy one kit if you want a stock version. And another for the street rod version. I like to have the option, like the old AMT kits, to build which version I'd like all in one box. I like my early cars that look completely stock on the outside. But, have a hopped up engine under the hood. A good old street sleeper. But Revell, with a lot of its kits, say I can only build it stock or street rod if I buy only one kit. It's a shame.
  21. Does anybody know? Does Revell's 1940 Ford Street Rod Convertible have the parts in the box to build the stock version? Or was only the original ProModeler version the one that could be built as a stock '40 Ford convertible?
  22. AMT's '66 Cyclone kit, like their Park Lane, had an option of the Wrist Twist steering. I don't if there was a real Cyclone with the feature or not. But I wouldn't be surprised. The Wrist Twist was a feature Ford Motor Company was seriously contemplating of offering was a factory option in the mid-60's. Why it never made to market, I don't know? It may have had something to do with new steering wheel safety standards coming in about that time? Ford did build a few test cars with the Wrist Twist in the mid-60's. Watching Ford's video from the time, I'm not sure if I would have wanted feature. It didn't look all that convenient to use to me.
