  1. Had a nice Thanksgiving. One thing my niece who hosts it does that's very nice, is at each of our dinner plates is small round piece of paper with a loop of string atached. On this paper your to write what your thankful for this year. After dinner we go around the table reading what we wrote, and then she hangs each one on her "Thanksgiving Tree." Which is little more than a small bare branch sticking out of flower pot. Somehow writing your thankfulness down, then hanging of her "Thanksgiving Tree" makes it more real and gives it more substance, than just going around table and saying it for us. I'm also very greatfull we did not get the snow that they were predicting for yesterday. Rather 1 to 2 inches as predicted. We just got nice dusting. A perfect snowfall that made things like the lawns look pretty. But, melted off the roads and sidewalks as it came down. So there was no need for the snowblower or the shovel. Cars parked outside earlier that morning required a snow brush. But, mine was in the garage, so I didn't even have to do that. Later that night stopped by some friends to say hi. They were planning watching a movie and invited me to stay. Their boys recommended a film called "Hotfuzz". Starring Simon Pegg. It's was a little graphic in it's depiction of violence. But, a funny movie overall. A lot of good Brittish humor, of the type I like. So yesterday turned out to be another Thaksgiving with lots to be thankful for. Now off to my second job at the auto parts store, for the next 2 days. Which is always pretty fun, and I'm grateful for too.
  2. My first ride would have been in the family's '50 Oldsmobile 88, 2-door fastback. The first I remember soon what well, was my folk's '55 Super '88. Our family's first new car was a bare bones, heater the only option, 1961 Comet.
  3. We were very lucky. No where near the snow they predicted. A nice dusting. Little more. Sidewalks, driveways, and streets were warm enough to keep the snow melted. So no need for the snowblower or shovel. Turned out a lot better than expected!
  4. The best WKRP episode ever. Nesman's report from the scene is still funny.
  5. Waiting to see this combo done. From what I'm seeing so far, it looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with the Suburban.
  6. Wow! Very nice. Any pictures of the interior?
  7. I hate snow! But, I love your model. Very nice.
  8. Great job.
  9. I maybe copying others comments. But I like it. Very nice.
  10. I like it. The color is odd, but works.
  11. The chrome is too shiny. Other than that, I like it.
  12. It's suppose to snow anywhere from 1" to 2" here today. The radio is say it's going to be a wintery mix with slippery roads. I'm going to my niece's over in St Paul for Thankgiving diner. Not a great distance. And well worth the drive. But, why today? We've had great weather all month. And it's suppose to get nice again by this weekend and into next week. But again, why today when one has to travel?
  13. Thank you. And I hope you and others have a happy Thanksgiving too.
  14. Where did this come from? I'd love to hear what Scotty is saying.
  15. Thankfully there are not too many in Minnesota. Only a few Timbers in the southeast part of the state. One of the few advantages to living in a state with this cold winter climate. We have very few poisonous creatures up here.
  16. Working in the schools, I still see kids who read books. But, even as in my day, the majority don't.
  17. Yes. I too hope that everybody in this country who celebrate the holiday, has a good one.
  18. I'm thankful for more of Ed's postings of his great pictures here. Thanks Ed. Please keep them coming.
  19. The seat is wrong for a stock sedan delivery too. The real sedan delivery came with only one seat big enough to hold the driver as standard equipment. One could order a a second identical passenger seat as an option. But no bench, as seen in the AMT kits. But again, the kit can be built in such away, that most people will not know its not stock. Despite the problems, I like the kit. In fact, it's my favorite of the '40 Ford body styles that AMT offers. It may not be right. But, it looks good to me.
  20. Solid lifters has always been my understanding. I may be wrong on this concerning Chrysler's Hemi. But in Chrysler's B body cars there looks like there would be enough room for both the engine and the a/c compressor. And true, they did switch the Hemi over to hydraulic lifters in the end. I don't know why it was not offered then? Then again, how many hydraulic lifter Hemis were built in '71? By the way, Chrysler did offer air conditioning with their Hemi engines from 1953 - 1958. And those Hemis have big heads, just like the 426. Yet air was offered there. The more I think of it, the I'm inclined to think space was not the big reason. I do know, Chrysler for space reasons would not offer air conditioning on '70 and '71 E body cars with the shaker hood option. No matter what engine. This is one of few examples I know of were space was the consideration. The solid lifter issue is the reason you could not get air conditioning in Chevrolet's Camaro Z/28 until 1973. The first year for hydraulic lifters in the Z/28. All solid lifter factory built Corvettes were not available with a/c
