No, I didn't just stand outside looking through the windows, I was invited in to look at the cars up close! And how did this happen??? I work as a taxi driver, always at night, Wed-Sat. Sometime during the night, I got a call on the computer to pick up a woman. Eventually the right people came and got in the car. Two women, one was going to a hotel, the other to a street address. So I drop the first one off at the hotel, and then it was off to this street. She asks: "do you know where Autoropa is?" I said: "sure, do you live around there?" She says: "no, I'm married into the family who owns the dealership, and we have a small apartment inside the place" I go: "cool" Then she says: "maybe you'd like to come inside and check out the cars? OHH yes!!! So I got to see some really nice cars: Ferrari Scaglietti - black metallic, and another one, same color, 599 GTB Fiorano F1. A pearl white Maserati Gran Turismo coupe, a dark metallic green Quattroporte, and a Ferrari 430 were the other cars there. I guess I could visit the place during daytime, but it has never entered my mind. I can never afford that kind of car anyway. I'm just a cab driver..... http://www.autoropa.se/webgate/_cars/_car_...amp;disable=yes

Olle, the Impala looks great!!!! My favorite is the interior, maybe I've said that before, but I guess it won't hurt to mention it again.... It looks like some english armchairs. So that's what you were looking for, that vacuum tank... Yes, I had it in my old 70 454 Elky, since it had A/C and it looked like a small coffee can, since it was a tin can. At least that's what "friends" used to call it..... I have a similar thing in my current Elky, but it looks like a round ball thingie..... no A/C.

The Vega kit is not the one I was thinking about, the Impala is more like it. I have a 70 Impala kit that's got a wacky looking front end, with huge chrome leaf springs and straight axle, the rear end have a pair of big chrome shackles and springs. Check it out.

Cool bug, Jairus!! You really put some unusual details into it.....
-
Hej Olle! Jeez man, you sure this isn't the real thing.....? Looks almost like it Keep up the good work, bud' This one will be sweet when finished!
-
Totally boss.......yeah, right... Looks plain stupid, like something from the early seventies, when MPC had these Mild or Wild '71 kits. The Wild version was often a highrider like these donks. And why the donk word, that sounds stupid as well.... sorry guys, maybe I'm "getting too old for this ######" like Danny Glover said in the movie Lethal Weapon.... And the so called lowriders with wheels sticking out of the wheelwells, that looks stupid too!

Hej Olle! Good to see you working on the Impala. But where's the intake manifold bolt heads.....Just messin with ya, ol' man...but they should be there, right? Btw, when's the show in Cookeville, this Saturday?? Good luck, 1. Finishing it, and 2. At the contest. Display a Swedish flag with the model!

WOW, that's some color you mixed!!! Shoot a Mo-Par with it and you'll be dead on.....
-
Ohh yes baby! It's coming along nicely, Raul. The interior looks good. What do you mean; "have to paint the interior", isn't it finished already.....? Looks cool to me. Always neat when someone incorporates the same seats front and rear, makes for a finished appearance. And of course I like the color - it's red....! Sits right too, with those wheels..... Hope you get it finished....

Old Project Back From The Dead!......197(?) Ford Pinto
Modellpularn replied to TimKustom's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It's sick man!! A big joke, right...? Right....??? Oh well, whatever...... -
Hej Olle, you're making progress with this one!! The ramp looks real fine. Keep up the good work, buddy!

Thanks guys! In case you're wondering about my choice of wheels..... at first I leaned towards the Rader wheels from AMT's Fireball 500, then I tried Cragar S/S, and maybe yet some chrome reverse, or Astros.....tires will be American Satco with the wide whitewalls. Beautiful tires!

Thanks guys! Further plans include a '40 Ford dash, and the pleated portions of the interior will be painted metallic red with clear to resemble flake vinyl.

Ohhh Yes, that Monogram Camaro is proportioned funny!!! The ones to get are anyone of the Revell Camaros; Z/28, Baldwin Motion, or Yenko. Doesn't matter which one you pick, the body is perfect, and the rest of the parts are just as good.
-
This was started after I won a Monogram Little Deuce on ebay. The kit has been reissued a number of times. And basically all the old parts are there. Except for this yellow plasic issue, which has a small block Chevy. Well, this was supposed to be a 60's hot rod, right, so out with the Chevy, and in with a Buick Nailhead from AMT's 40 Ford. After some "minor adjustments" -quote Juha Airio, it fit like a glove: I liked the firewall from the Li'l Deuce, and decided to do my own version; a custom grille from AMT's 49 Merc, and a bunch of Evergreen half round strips, here just laid in place to check: Finished firewall, recessed into bodyshell, 'cus the magneto would hit the firewall otherwise: Naturally it had to be my favorite color, Candy Red. Tamiya white primer base, followed by Auto-K metallic red, followed by Plasti-Kote Candy Red. It needs some clear, and possibly repaint of the body part, got some white spots on the door.....

I'd say the Palmer kits have to be some of the worst; generic chassis with a silly looking V8, include it with the Volvo P 1800, Porsche something....Front mounted V8 in a Porsche???? Had those kits a brief moment in the mid 80's. Have to agree with Olle F about the 69 Camaro and 57 Bel Air, but I think the 56 Chevy HT is even worse. How can they still produce this piece of junk??

Cool Monte, Jaffa! That will be a sweet paint job. How about some gold around the edges where it meets the white, could be cool, eh? I mean, if you're going to use some gold graphics.... And "rollinoldskoo", that's soo cool of you to offer free parts! Isn't this hobby great? We make friends across the globe, and it's also cool when you actually meet the guys in the US, and instantly you know what the other guy is talking about. We speak styrene! Right, fellas?!

My old club, that a friend and I was instrumental in forming, had it's annual show Feb. 9th. I believe some 75 builders entered 355 models. Here's some of my pics. http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/Modellpularn/CCM/ Juha's Edsel rod: Sorry for the slightly blurry pic. VW type 1 truck by another Finn: Here's some more....like 300....! http://s112.photobucket.com/albums/n191/JonMW/CCM%202008/

Outstanding paint and bodywork! Ever try VHT Chevy Engine Orange...? Works great. About the interior, why not a white/black Houndstooth pattern? Not sure, but I think it's avaliable as a decal....
-
Heyyy man you build some awesome lowriders!! I really like the yellow and red 65 Impala. That paint is wild, man!! But I'm curious, why the silver/chrome front - rear corners? Was that a way to show off you could afford to put more chrome on the car, or what? Those five spoke wheels..... hmmm doesn't look very good. Try to find a set of Cragar S/S from AMT's 65 Galaxie, now those are beautiful! Very crisp molding, with S/S detail in the center caps. Very cool old school wheels! There's a kit you could build a lowrider of, it's got an opening trunk, right from way back in 1965.

Thanks guys! I've done some puttying and sanding, but it needs some more, so I'll have my work cut out for me....... Now it's time to shift into overdrive if this thing is to be finished by Saturday 9th........ Then there's the Deuce roadster also....hmmm
-
Raul, you really need to lower it, and put the smaller dia. wheels in front. It's now on the border of "donks"..... That Poncho has the right look, go for the same stance!

60 El Camino Radical Custom Begins Pt1
Modellpularn replied to Dave Mikrut's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow, that's a wild one!!!!! Where did you get the body? I have a resin '60 Camino. That baby just begs for some metalflake!! -
It looks like a real killer already! It's wild with the set back engine. Polish the paint, why? Looks good to me, and old style race cars didn't have perfect paint jobs. Right?

This is something I started about 15 years ago, when the model came out the first time. The glass top is from AMT's old 65 Impala convertible. It fits almost perfect on the Caddy. Only had to file a notch on each side of the windshield. And why has it been sitting idle for so long you ask.... Maybe I wasn't really sure what to do with the hood. I had a spare that a friend gave me. At first I was thinking of using the rear part as a filler piece between the stock hood and windshield. Now I got some new ideas, and simply extended it. I think it turned out pretty good, if I may say so. It's glued shut, as this is more of a styling exercise than a superdetailed model. I plan to paint the body candy red, but not so sure about the top. A slight green tint, or what do you guys think? I might apply BMF as window borders, or...?
