Ok, I guess you're waiting for pics.... My camera and computer were not compatible yesterday!! I have one for ya. Here's the painted front end, and the headers. In the back is the "stock" header. Made to fit the Buick. The Hemi has evenly spaced exhaust ports, so I had to take care of the problem. In the middle is the second header, in progress. I made a little jig, to space the pipes. At the bottom is a finished piece. Well, almost.... needs a bit of fine sanding. But wait, I'm not done yet. I have to make flanges, and "mate" these to the engine. I've glued the Li'l Coffin headers to the engine. Now I have to figure out where to cut both sets of headers, and then glue 'em together.... This should be fun Later guys, it's night night time for me!

Paint problem solved! Did some fine sanding, and resprayed the front. Now it looks good, just needs some clear, as does the body. I'm in the process of sectioning a set of headers.... They are from AMT's 60's double kit '32 Ford sedan custom/'40 Willys coupe. The deuce has a really cool set of headers that I planned to use from the start. But they are made for a Buick engine, and doesn't quite fit the Hemi. One side is nearly done, I'm fiddling with the other. Must be crazy.....

Oh rats! I primed and painted the front end, but managed to lay it on too thick. Had a dark primer, and it looked like it didn't cover enough..... Now it's in the brake fluid bath. I'll have another go at it tomorrow. With some light grey primer.
-
The front end is just resting between the frame rails. No worries mate..... Are you going to the NNL West? The plan is to bring this one with me over to So-Cal next Monday. And show it there.

'40 Ford Pickup
Modellpularn replied to Greg Pugh's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Wow, you're really tweaking and fixing this kit! It's kind of funny, when you get a kit that's started, you want to rescue it, and then put all kinds of work effort into it. More than a fresh kit. I have an AMT '55 Chevy pickup that I did a lot to fix, but not nearly as much as yours. It's not finished btw..... Plans are for a work truck, weathered. -
Thanks! I'm quite pleased myself. I'll have some paint on it by later tonight. -Terror, the tilt is accidental. It will have the old style five spoke wheels with whitewalls. This was just for fun....

1978 Glidden Fairmont....well trying to!!!!
Modellpularn replied to Plasticfanatic's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is almost like something Juha Airio would build.... Cool conversion of an obscure bodystyle! -
And now for something different, Bling wheels..... Naaaahh, I'm just fooling around! A friend came by Sunday afternoon, and I wanted to show the progress. Got this crazy idea, and whipped out these wheels for a quick mockup.

Small update, I've shortened the grille surround even more, and shaped the top to match the grille beak. Hogged out the opening, and now finally glued the headlight pods in place. Also found a nifty scoop for the blower. Ties in with the oval shapes.... Sorry for the slightly fuzzy pic. Just some final sanding left, then some primer and paint. Any bright ideas what to use in the grille opening....??? Maybe I'll come up with something in California....
-
Small update. I've now sectioned and shortened the front end. It's shaping up. Fine tuning left, install the headlights. I've been thinking of opening the grille, and installing some mesh screen. Here's how it looks now:
-
I've now sectioned the front end, and it looks better. I'll also shorten the length some. "Minor adjustments" as Juha would say....
-
I've added some filler pieces to the bottom of the front end, and made a rough cut to get rid of the Mickey Mouse look. But now I think it looks too high, or tall.... Never satisfied. I feel it needs a section job of about 5 mm to get better proportions. Or....??
-
You won't believe it, I have a progress pic to show!! Got some inspiration in the morning hours. Even if it looks Mickey Mouse right now, I have a game plan.... The angle of the grille now matches the body. I'll let this dry until tonight - my time, then add some more plastic pieces. I'll only be using the first half inch from the grille backwards. The rest will be junked. Bear with me, and you'll see a cool thing evolve.
-
Slight update: I've assembled a front end; hood, grille and hood sides from a '33-'34 Ford. I need to slit the glue joint between the hood and sides, and lift it at the back to get a more aggressive lean to the grille. Then add some plastic to the bottom. And the '37 Chevy pods. This will be my new front piece. But the grille won't stay stock.... You'll get pics tomorrow.
-
I have to agree on that. I also like your comment: "You nailed that" Were you referring to the fact he used nail polish....?
-
Change of plans! I've been thinking about this headlight idea, and it dawned on me that the quad lights will be too clunky. With boxes around them... So I decided to use '37 Chevy pods instead. They have a nice pointed taper, like the roll pan/taillight. Headlight rings were swiped from a junker '53 Stude. They have a slight visor shape on top that I like. They are now glued to the Chevy pods. I feel satisfied with this setup. Now the grille needs to be positioned, and sides built, then install the headlights. After some sanding and shaping. New excitement! Pics will come.... Now it's night night time for me.
-
Mine too! It looks good, and you did a good job on the hot jugs..... Ohhh, sorry, my deranged mind slipped a little there. "Go granny go" from the song "Little old lady from Pasadena", might fit the description....
-
I have seen the light, so to speak, concerning the headlights.... Went through some different headlight buckets, and then decided to use the custom buckets from AMT's '57 Chevy. I want the hooded style, but they are too small or short. I'll just cut them, and extend them, so the quad lights will fit inside. I'm also going to add material to the sides on the buckets and grille. I'm all fired up about this idea! The interior will most likely get the custom buckets and dash from AMT's '37 Chevy.
-
It's time to finish this sucker! Since I plan to attend the NNL West, and bring this one, again.... But now in a more complete state than last time. I have little less than five weeks. 1. Redo the grille/headlights. 2. Change the headers. 3. Interior. Go with buckets instead of the bench. 4. Taillight. 5. Add some scallops, in purple candy maybe.
-
Here's a pic of a small update so far. Had my son here, and he kept me busy.... Now he's back home, so maybe I can get some work done.
-
That's a different twist with white stripes. It was black stripes with the Shadow Gray paint. I have a similar Chevelle in the works, with black stripes. It's almost done, been sitting in the box for years.... And a black one with white stripes. Also sitting in the box.... Some day I'll finish them.
-
Could not have said it better, but I'll add some anyway..... Wow, awesome project, and you managed to pull it off, looks flawless!! Will you bring it to the NNL West? I have a feeling it will blow some minds.... I plan to be there, and hopefully bring something.
-
Looking good in primer! I should have kept the one I had. Oh well, guess I'll have to look for another.....
-
It could be Swedish hot rodding also. We had these jacked up cars, the cops would sometimes terrorise car owners having Hi-jackers and other stuff, like hood scoops....That time has passed, fortunately! Niko, your model IS a MPC '67. The front fender louvers shows it, and the chassis. Good luck with your project!
-
Oh, cool!! Looks evil with those black rear wheels.... I've got a similar looking body laying around, that needs some work. I'm getting inspired to finish that halfdone project, now that I'm seeing yours.
