All I can say is "WOW!!" I am new to 1/8 and coming out of a slump, this old kit is sitting on my bench right now. Talk about timing. I am just keeping it primarily box stock but am planning on adding a few wires. What gauge do you use for the different applications on your build?

I feel like I dropped off the face of the earth. lol Thanks for all the info on the correct rear suspension setup Hakan. I saved it so if I start one of these from scratch I can do it right. I would have to cut this one all up and with my current state of busyness I am just going to leave it be. JT, guess what, its going to be orange after all. That seems like all I have left in the paint cans. Pat, I have no clue when I will have the time or space to do that yet. My real trouble is I am afraid that I may get rid of something that I may need, due to my ignorance when it comes to big rigs -
Since I do not have the space to unpack and dig through all my boxes for the Log Truck parts, and I REALLY want to build a big rig, I looked at the top few boxes in the garage and found that two of them were kits. Yay me ! This was the first one in the box and it works for me. Somebody already started the chassis, and fortunately its straight enough for who it's for. I need to fix the corner of one of the frame rails... ...and cut loose the rear axle brake canisters because somebody put them on upside down. lol Not sure about going with the box art colors even though that would be easiest. Don't take me wrong, I like orange just fine, but it looks better when you see it in Texas. Decals are in great shape. Only one small part missing and it can be added anytime in the future. So I will mull over the paint scheme while getting the chassis sorted and finished up.

Awesome thread ! I have both trailers touched on and am benefiting from all the pics. -
Well, I figured it was time to surface after the big move over the last year. (still not finished though) I have been having a tough time getting and staying motivated at the bench. I saw this just last week and stopped to take some pics today. I have always wanted to build a log truck, and I think this will be the motivation. It just came out of the paint shop. I actually think I have all the parts in that HUGE collection I acquired a little over a year ago. Somebody happened to be there and opened the hood for me and let me take pictures of the cab as well. I know some of the owners of the yard and will try and see somebody during business hours so I can get more pics of the other trucks. I have more shots for reference, but these give you an idea of the overall appearance. I also took some pics of these two trucks. Are they 378 Pete's? All of the pics can be seen here. http://s40.photobucket.com/user/sampamandfam/library/1976 Stretched Pete

I was in my local Hobby Lobby the other day and actually was EXCITED to see all that awesome old box art and kits I have not seen in ages. I left the store with the 1/8 Honda Trail 70. LOVED IT !! Soooo glad it was not labeled as a Dax. The box art showed the 1/8 Honda 750, so that one is now on the list !! Planes too !! -
Thanks Clay. Here it is with the new front wheels.

Thanks, I will have one more pic to add to the thread tonight. it is getting its new front wheels on right now. i really want to build a model of this one. lol

.....and Elvis has left the building !!!

Ok, the truck came back from its owners, running and driving, so we could finish our part. The hood is hung, headlights and front fenders mounted. We will be installing the mirrors and a couple more painted parts. Then it goes back to its owners for them to finish up. Hopefully I can get a couple outdoor shots before it goes home.

Thanks again everyone. I sure hope to get back to the bench soon.

I spent the last week out in Oregon with my family. While I was there i was able to spend time with my father-in-law and show him the pics of the Bison and what I had collected together to reproduce some of the rigs he used to drive. We spent lots of time looking at images of CF trucks and this is the type of truck he drove. He told me that the solid green truck was used for in town deliveries, while the white trucks were the road trucks. He also mentioned that CF had canvas topped trailers with hinged walls that folded flat along the side of the trailer and you pulled them out across the width of the trailer to section off the load as needed. So now I need to do more research and look for pics of these canvas topped trailers. I also needed to know if the tractor is available in the aftermarket. and what chassis would be a good one to start with. I know I purchased a resin body a few years ago, but now am not sure its the correct one. So off I go to find it. EDIT : Nope, I purchased the International, which is the wrong tractor
