  1. I have one of these in the stash as well. I also am learning about the AMT fit and instructions thing.
  2. It seems that I start with the oddball trucks. The first one I built was the Bison. So I will have a small fleet of Chevies. :-) So after inspecting all the parts, I found that I had to download the missing instructions. Then I found that the basic frame assembly that I tore down had been assembled incorrectly along with a missing rear crossmember... My goal with this build is oob...and finish it. Yesterday and today found the frame all sorted, and a modified rear crossmember cut down from something found in the parts box. Edit: Having problems with the pics for some reason.
  3. Here is what I will be attempting to build. Have not touched a model in over a year.
  4. I have not touched a model in over a year. A friend sent me this last week and so I came on to see what was going on in the truck section and found this build thread. Is it too late for me to join in? The bare frame rails and fuel tanks appear to be the only thing started. Just re-re-read the rules. Frame and tanks are now in pieces.
  5. Great trades with DPNM, Mike999, and LDO. I would recommend them to anyone.
  6. All I can say is "WOW!!" I am new to 1/8 and coming out of a slump, this old kit is sitting on my bench right now. Talk about timing. I am just keeping it primarily box stock but am planning on adding a few wires. What gauge do you use for the different applications on your build?
  7. That's awesome !! If you ever get over to Newport, look me up. I need some help identifying a boatload of big rig kits and parts so I can keep what I want and then let some stuff go.
  8. I feel like I dropped off the face of the earth. lol Thanks for all the info on the correct rear suspension setup Hakan. I saved it so if I start one of these from scratch I can do it right. I would have to cut this one all up and with my current state of busyness I am just going to leave it be. JT, guess what, its going to be orange after all. That seems like all I have left in the paint cans. Pat, I have no clue when I will have the time or space to do that yet. My real trouble is I am afraid that I may get rid of something that I may need, due to my ignorance when it comes to big rigs
  9. Since I do not have the space to unpack and dig through all my boxes for the Log Truck parts, and I REALLY want to build a big rig, I looked at the top few boxes in the garage and found that two of them were kits. Yay me ! This was the first one in the box and it works for me. Somebody already started the chassis, and fortunately its straight enough for who it's for. I need to fix the corner of one of the frame rails... ...and cut loose the rear axle brake canisters because somebody put them on upside down. lol Not sure about going with the box art colors even though that would be easiest. Don't take me wrong, I like orange just fine, but it looks better when you see it in Texas. Decals are in great shape. Only one small part missing and it can be added anytime in the future. So I will mull over the paint scheme while getting the chassis sorted and finished up.
  10. I knew you could not, NOT, build it. Lol The company my father-in-law works for has not really slowed down for about 25 years now. He has been with them over 35 years, he is 72, and the seven days prior to ending last Sunday he logged 80 hrs. The young guys can't even dream about keeping up. Lol
  11. Awesome thread ! I have both trailers touched on and am benefiting from all the pics.
  12. That is one sweet rig. So tell me more about this sleeper. I have not seen one before, and now I am seeing them throughout the forum.
  13. You guys are hitting homers across the board !! Keep up the great work !
  14. I have always built my pickups as street/hot rods. You are making me rethink the whole work horse thing. I am really liking it.
  15. Well, I figured it was time to surface after the big move over the last year. (still not finished though) I have been having a tough time getting and staying motivated at the bench. I saw this just last week and stopped to take some pics today. I have always wanted to build a log truck, and I think this will be the motivation. It just came out of the paint shop. I actually think I have all the parts in that HUGE collection I acquired a little over a year ago. Somebody happened to be there and opened the hood for me and let me take pictures of the cab as well. I know some of the owners of the yard and will try and see somebody during business hours so I can get more pics of the other trucks. I have more shots for reference, but these give you an idea of the overall appearance. I also took some pics of these two trucks. Are they 378 Pete's? All of the pics can be seen here. http://s40.photobucket.com/user/sampamandfam/library/1976 Stretched Pete
  16. I was in my local Hobby Lobby the other day and actually was EXCITED to see all that awesome old box art and kits I have not seen in ages. I left the store with the 1/8 Honda Trail 70. LOVED IT !! Soooo glad it was not labeled as a Dax. The box art showed the 1/8 Honda 750, so that one is now on the list !! Planes too !!
  17. Thanks Clay. Here it is with the new front wheels.
