  1. Nicely done! great paint job! The wiring,,, that is a great idea! The spark plug wires, are they from a aftermarket kit? Gotta love the Cobra's! I have a 98 real 1;1...love that car, can't wait for the weather to warm so I can take it out of the garage! only has 46k on the odometer! Like new car!
  2. Holy cowabunga! Great job! Love the almost GHG paint! That is sweet man! Thanks for the heads up on the paint! Now time to build my own!
  3. wow, I really like this, it reminds me of a guy that I used to do haying with in the summer, he had a 49/50 Merc. that was all junked out almost exactly like this one. It had a tree that was growing thru the trunk lid. Very cool! Great job!
  4. Great build, What is the paint? If you do add the spark plugs and wires be sure to take pics.Interested in how it will look! Love you collection! LOL, keep up the good work! Just started a AMT '66 Fairlane 500 427! That is the one where Ford only made them in white for racing. Only like 56 made in 66. Lots of flash etc to clean up.
  5. LOL, funny thing is I was going to do that exact thing, but somehow I clean forgot to do it. I have done it on my other models. Your right, it makes it more real! Thanks, was some project, got to the point where all I wanted to do was finish it
  6. Your right about them being a suggestion, but when you have all of the other pieces from the old kits as well as new ones it becomes very confusing since the i instructions only dealt with the old kits. The color combo, I was looking at pics of 1:1 '37 hotrods done in todays hotrodding athmosphere, and there were allot of them that have 2 colors, dark and light. I saw one car that was chocolate brown, then another that was creme, I had to go with that combo. I actually printed out the pics and then I cut the prints and taped them back together with the different combs and this is what I came up with! Thanks for the complement.
  7. Yeah, Cobraman, the suspension actually melted on the original attempt to build this, so I begged and borrowed and got nothing so I actually ended up buy a new kit and pretty much started over from scratch. The extra parts I have now I am going to rebuild a new one on a Mustang chassis! That should be interesting!
  8. Funny thing is the kit had 2 sets of windows as well! The rear suspension also was for 2 ways to build it, but it didn't say why or how! Same with the wheels, there is no way on gods green earth that the wheels were going to stay on with the big rims, so they are all 5 minute epoxyed another view from the pass, side. http://s1377.photobucket.com/user/mybluesnake/media/cars/20150306_114512_zpskfbsnfe9.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3
  9. http://s1377.photobucket.com/user/mybluesnake/media/cars/20150306_114548_zpsrn6m9eyb.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 A shot at the motor!
  10. It is the Revell '37 Ford Coupe street rod. #85-4097
  11. I had so many problems with the front suspension it was crazy, that is until I figured out that the parts that the instructions were not to be used for this model but some other similar one! I removed the "B" pillars, and the stanchion on the rear window to make it a solid window not a split window! I should have removed the front one on the windshield as well! I think it makes a much cleaner appearance.
  12. This was a basic PIA to finish. The instructions are all but worthless, the diagrams are at best poorly done, explanation of how the suspension is supposed to go together was wrong, not to mention parts were in the kit from old redo's of older models that if you try to use all the parts you will have one strange model. Any rate, most of it was fun to work on despite it's and my failings!
  13. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that '71 Mustang sell for?
  14. It's a small block chevy motor. probably Those are popular. I am building that kit also and it's a 327ci motor. I am not using the motor from the kit, I replaced it with a Ford 289ci. from a 94 Mustang kit. The ford motor looks more natural I think but then I am a ford guy! Bleed Ford blue!
  15. A good pic of a 1:1 67 gt. Notice the chrome bottom rockers, and the chrome trim is missing. It didn't come on every GT fastback!. http://members.tccoa.com/392bird/rfrontgt.jpg They were only on special trim levels, so not all GT fastbacks had the chrome trim on the wheel wells, the trunk surround, and the hood surround and the rocker panels. You could get this trim level but it was an extra 800 bucks or more. So in reality AMT when they made this kit were actually using a less expensive model to make their models from it. Since it was manufactured in 1994 it is surprising that even as much detail that did come in the kit was there. Afterall, 27 years had passed since the car was new in 67' so there was allot that wasn't correct on the kit car! I just finished exactly the same kit and I had numerous problems with fit. I won't post pics of it here because I was very unhappy with the way it all came together. Little things that just irritate is all!
  16. very cool, love that the wife is interested as well! Making a great team. I like the screen interiors! Very nice touch!
  17. keep going, interested in where your going with this one!
  18. Good to see that another person has this addiction to modeling. The paint is the hardest thing to learn. I have gone through I don't know how many bottles of brake fluid, and cans of oven cleaner stripping paint that I messed up. I found that each time I did that, I was always able to start over again with the knowledge of what I messed up to make it better the next time. I like the door panels. Shows that you already have a good grasp of how to do detail...which I can't seem to do myself.
  19. Thanks for the write up. Looks like I will be shooting acrylic for my next build...love the shiny you know! Can't wait to see the finished car.
  20. I have used Krylon paint in the past with out primer/sealer, no ill effects! I did it as a test on a 53 f100, was perfect, no problems. I was in a hurry...I know better, BUT!
  21. aww yes, down at the submarine races..what fun!.
  22. Nice paint! Going to do this to one of mine when I start my next build. Wow factor on that paint!!! Following this build to the end.
  23. This will be a fun build. Did one a year ago, one of my faves.
