  1. I guess the point of my OP was that there has to be a minimum threshold of accuracy for a manufacturer’s kit. Would I like every detail to be accurate – absolutely. I suppose am more tolerant than some about smaller detail discrepancies but I can’t really understand how major body panel deficiencies can be acceptable. But why would a manufacturer not want feedback from the hard core consumers of their products? I would think this would be nothing but beneficial even if a bit difficult to bare at times. It would help them in the decision making process of what compromises to allow to remain in the kit and which ones to invest in to correct.
  2. Very nice Clifford. FYI there may be a full detail resin kit of the race car available in the future.
  3. Interesting project. If you are planning on being a regular poster you should consider using a photo hosting site, then you wouldn't need to be concerned with file size. I use Fotki.
  4. The nit picking can sometimes seem too much, but where is the line between constructive critiquing and over the top criticism? A response to one of the new kit threads indicated that manufacturers have stopped participating in the forum because of the constant bashing. I get that. I was fortunate enough recently to have a well-respected resin caster chose one of my projects to offer as a kit, a first for me. I was very reluctant to agree to the use of my master for fear that the resin caster would face criticism for the short comings of my work. Granted comparing a handmade transkit to a manufacturer’s kit offering is not entirely equivalent but I can appreciate the reluctance on their part to expose themselves to the criticism. However kit manufacturers should be held to a higher standard. There has to be a balance between constructive criticism and nit-picking rivet counting bashing. I wish I knew where that balance point was.
  5. Cut the side vents out of the Monogram 427 and grafted them into the 289. This effectively updates the car to a late '63/'64 car.
  6. Thanks Ray but I think it's going to be a keeper.
  7. Radiused the rear wheel wells.
  8. Yep, forgot about the 427 powered Coupe. Never turned a wheel in anger but a significant car none the less.
  9. And of course you also have the AC factory's version: And the Willment Coupe:
  10. Here is picture of that car in the "as found" condition. And here is its story.
  11. Great start.
  12. There is the Gunze kit, not too difficult to find. Maybe a little on the expensive side but not outrageous.
  13. I had the GT40 kit which is very similar but sold it. Didn't care for the fixed open door. Would have much rather had the body cast in one piece.
  14. A neat tip a friend of mine showed me to recreate the gasket around the air cleaner is a rubber O-ring you can find in the plumbing department of your local hardware store. You have to do a little work on the under hood plenum to get the hood to fully close but I think it looks good. Here it is on my OC Vette.

  16. Those look like pretty nice wire wheels. Good work.

    Very nice work Tom.
  18. Fisher offers a 512S Spyder in resin but I think the Heller kit is the only one available in plastic.
  19. That's exactly how I made the two toggles in the bottom center of the dash. The only difference I used silver wire so that I didn't have to paint them.
  20. Nice work Jeff.
  21. I agree, not intuitive at all.
  22. Yea I can't figure out how to delete notifications either.
  23. Should be a 428.
