  1. Okay then I think they would qualify as unbuildable.
  2. For a 12 year old with nothing but tube glue at their disposal a kit might be declared unbuildable. But as an adult with all the various tools and adhesives available the only real obstacle to completing a kit is desire.
  3. Thanks Tommy. I had to crank up the brightness on the engine photos and everything looks washed out. I'll try to take some photos with natural light.
  4. Yea that is the color Reji Models recommends on their decal sheet but it looks a bit dark to me. Applying it over white primer would lighten it. I have also thought about TS-44 over gray primer. Probably go the TS-15 route.
  5. The chassis is painted (white) but I haven't settled on the shade of blue yet for the body. I haven't found any information on the paint color of the 1:1 cars.
  6. No problem Shay, I appreciate all your help.
  7. Shay, I have seen the wires routed both ways. It would be difficult to route the plug wires between the carbs and not interfere with my throttle linkage so I was forced to go forward. I still need to shorten and tidy up the wires a bit. They aren't yet glued into the cylinder head. The mesh on the air filter is some leftover material from a Tamiya rally kit.

    Corvette C6-R

Nice Kenny. I have the C5-R and the C6-R in the stash. Need to get after them.
  9. Nice work.
  10. This is far as I can go with the engine before installing it in the chassis to finish plumbing & wiring. Still need to install the fan but wanted to show the pulleys and belts that will mostly be hidden once the fan is installed. Sorry for the lousy pictures.
  11. Thanks Joe. Thanks Randy. An Optivisor does wonders for detail work.
  12. What kit is the engine out of? I know you said the SVO kit but which one?
  13. Robert, are you building a particular car?
  14. This debate is nearly 5 years old!! There was a thread started by the forum owner asking for recommendations in 2010. For those that are interested here is the link. Yet here we are 5 years later with no new categories. What does that tell you?
  15. I'll be watching Robert. I have this kit in the stash and have done a little work to it so far. I look forward to see what you do with it.
  16. Want to test your patience? Try drilling out .035" (.88 mm) rod to make spark plug boots.
  17. There is no denying that most forms of racing have no representation on this forum. Casey has proposed several times an addition/reorganization of the categories to expand the forum and give other builders better representation but it continues to fall on deaf ears. The basic response, the forum is the way it is and if you don't like find another one. We'll I have found a racing forum that represents more of my interests and I am banging it's drum as loud as I can.
  18. James, I don't understand your concern, we actually have both racing categories included in the forum. I agree that the racing categories should be expanded and I have made this suggestion several times in the past. Unfortunately you are banging your head against the same wall others before you have.

    Gulf McLaren

Very nice. The Gulf livery is timeless.
  20. Nice work Casey. What adhesive did you use to attached the brackets? I would like to try these but with such little bonding surface I am concerned they would snap right off.
  21. Nice trade with chunkypeanutbutter. Thanks Miles.
  22. All the Works car ran on 13" diameter wheels to the best of my knowledge. The did on rare occasion (when the driver insisted) use 15" wheels on rough surface events but they where a different style Minilite wheel. The standard tarmac wheels where 13x8 front and 13x10 rear. The width of the rears continued to grow over time until they reached 13x13!
  23. Thanks Nicholas. I agree Shay.
