You're amazing Jesse! I had this kit in the stash for awhile and sold it. It would take a fair bit of work to make it look like the 1:1 starting with some appropriate wheels and tires.
Looks good Joe. I assume you've test fit the engine with valve covers, etc in place. The 429 is a massive engine. I built Benny Parsons' '71 Mercury Cyclone awhile back and just barely squeezed the 429 between the front shock mounts.
This condition is called "silvering". The decal has not fully bond to the surface underneath. Decals need a very smooth surface. Any texture of roughness will cause this condition. Decal Setting and/or Decal Softening solutions help here but your paint or clear coat needs to be smooth before you apply the decals.
Also while the decal is still wet go over it with a wetted paint brush (water) to work out any trapped water or air under the decal.
There have been some good articles written (in the model magazines) and I assume videos about tips & tricks for applying decals. Search some of these out.
Thanks Gene. Yep I made the whole flashlight assembly. Everything in the pictures shown in white plastic, except the headphones and helmets, has been scratch built. I only modified the helmets.
Thanks Martin. I have easily looked at over 100 photos and have only found the (2) I mentioned that show the headphones in the car. I found several photos that show the connecting cables hanging down from the roof both when being serviced and during stages. Therefore I have mounted the intercom box to the underside of roll hoop and will stow the headphones hooked around the kicker bar – sorry Shay. I will make the coiled connecting cables and they will drape down to the headphones.
