  1. Looks great Ray!! Very original idea......it is quite different, and I like different!
  2. Beautiful job on this Cliff!! The details are magnificent! I am working on one of these as well. Love what you did here!
  3. Just beautiful Carl! LOVE the paint! Don't worry about the foil......she is still a STUNNER!
  4. See you Friday Nick!
  5. Thank you Tommy! It really isn't that hard to get it to look like something.......mostly paint and some details.
  6. Thanks David! The promo was the 1987 Z28 (it is blue plastic.) The wheels are Pegasus IROK's. Model Empire in milwaukee has about 300-400 of the promos for sale.....think they are like $4.
  7. Thank you Curtis......I contacted him via PM. He had done these in a different color for a build of his own (white car with black and red decals I think.)
  8. Thank you so much Ed. Was very happy with how the paint came out on this one......so glad you noticed the finish. Makes it all worthwhile! Thank you Jon. I really love it when people notice the details.
  9. Thank you very much guys! David, the decals came from Chief Joseph here on the forums. EXCELLENT Quality!!!
  10. All done in time for the Z28 Challenge on Sunday at the GTR show in Algonquin, Illinois. I would do this again for the low price these promos go for.....was a lot of fun!! Decals were from Chief Joseph and the color is House of Kolor True Blue Pearl with 3 coats of Rustoleum lacquer clear decanted and airbrushed. Enjoy the pics!
  11. Hey John, hope your eye is on those front wheel arches also......they are shaped like an early Nascar due to the heritage of this kit (Richard Petty Nascar Charger). The easiest way to correct this is to use the rear wheelwell arch shape as a guide to cut out new sections of Evergreen and glue in......that is unless you have another kit of this, then just cut out the rear wheel arches and glue in on the front fenders. Either way it isn't that bad of a fix. I like where this going, BTW, look toward the diecast world for tires/wheels for your Pro Touring look. Jada 1/24 scale will have large bigs and littles that will fit the 1/16 scale size perfectly.
  12. Great trade with gardnerpag44 (Paul)! Would gladly trade with him again!!!
  13. Thank you guys and thank you Joseph! Sounds like one heck of a conversion kit!! I'll be following that for sure!!
  14. Thank you guys for the support and comments....I really appreciate it! Ok, so all that is left now is to install the door mirrors (which will be pinned into the door tops so they don't inssit on falling off all the time.) Took some pics yesterday after work.....Enjoy!
  15. Thank you so much guys! I really like that a build like this can bring you back to an earlier memory of a past car. Glad to help that along!
  16. Thank you Curtis! Yep, I have the mirrors from a trans am kit.
  17. Thank you Bob........wetsanded all the way to 12000 grit and compounded. Was hard ( ) to mask over it for the satin black trim.
  18. This was a challenge build from a fellow member of a local club......."take the 1987 Camaro IROC promo and turn it into something." Was a $4.00 buy-in to get in on the challenge. Now the promo is really more of a toy with greatly undersized wheels and tires, and pretty much no detail whatsoever, not to mention mold lines and sinkmarks. Looking at the car I just wanted to build it like it should have been....something that would resemble an AUTOART diecast per se. I started by throwing away the wheels and tires and replacing them with Pegasus IROK's mounted on the tires from the Mustang Mach 3. (Gatorbacks would be correct for the IROC). GIANT thanks to Chief Joseph for the help with the decals (ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH DECALS!!!) The brakes were made with Corvette calipers from the Callaway Speedster kit, removed from the plastic rotors and mounted to chrome washers (spun on a drill and "machined" with a drill bit. BMF was used for all the masking for satin black (hoodscoops, headlight buckets, door handles, and the front fog light surrounds.) The color is True Blue pearl from HOK, cleared, wetsanded and handrubbed out. (Bob's paint and Kustom Khrome.) Getting close to done......interior is done but not in the pics. Need to paint the blue on the windshield top and then a little bit of black trim on the glass and it will be done. This build will be at the GTR show on August 2nd with the other fine builds on the table of this sows ear. Enjoy the pics of progress so far!
