Peter, I hate to say this, but Testors clears are inconsistent at best, and if you use clear blue, red, orange, etc,,,,use Tamiya sprays. looks like the paint combo had a reaction to the plastic on your hood compared to the spoon,,,,or, if the hood was not washed and cleaned and prepped just so, it may have caused this...just a thought...the Ace....

.........just got the new AMT 49 FORD and another 75 Gremlin......49 kit is quite nice generally, and of course the Gremmy was cheap as heck, so I had to grab another one...the Ace...

........just got my new 49 today.....I usually never buy or build drag car's of this kind, but I'm making an exception in this case. IMO this issue is worth every cent and the tire's and goody's like the red tinted glass are worth the price alone. mine will be built quite basic, maybe with plug wire's alone for detailing, and as the box art car with Tamiya white sprayed with Tamiya pearl coat overtop.........another great Round2 reissue.....the Ace....

.....bad news , David, on your Good Years.....I had the exact thing happen month's back on a set of the M-H 10.50 slick's. I contacted Round 2, and I had a replacement slick sent to me quickly... just a thought here.....the Ace...

AMT '69 Barracuda Chassis Tip
AC Norton replied to Glenn Tooley's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I'm with ya' , Glenn, I bought 2 parted out Fireballs last summer to do the same thing. It won't 'drop' in, but 5 minutes of sanding and slight trimming make it drop in quickly. oh, and as for your 'like I said' statement,,,,ALWAYS expect somebody on this forum, usually a foreigner or the like, to diminish your suggestion and kind sharing of info by upstaging your thought's with their knowledge of, well, everything in life........especially a small group of them that figure the rest of us live in a cave and just discovered car modeling yesterday... post some of your other discovery's and kindly share them with us,,, they will be truly appreciated by most builder's on the forum, however I guarantee there is a few that love to deflate another guy's new discovery's or idea's only to promote their own self-appointed undoubted status as a true 'God of modeling' ...thanks for posting to those who appreciate it....the Ace..... -
thanks, Walter....I just plain love it....you can hear those 8 grand power shift's and see the black stripe's between gear's....thanks for a revisit....the Ace....

..........well, let's look at the bright side,,,,shall we,......we all know that just about ANY car model kit, brand new boxed can be got with a bit of patience and a fist full of cash.....my point...if most all were built or destroyed even grabbing up 6-10-15 year old kit's could be a problem.....I'll bet less than 20 per cent get completed, and maybe 30 per cent get started....just my opinion.....the Ace....

John, there was some on ebay a day or so back from 2 or 3 dealers.....the Ace..===== just checked now,,, 4 different U.S. ebayers have them on presently...hope this helps....

...still look's great, Joe, and don't be put off by the decal's. I built this back around 1982 or so, and the original MPC decal's bled, and even covering them with Cady's year's later, they still weren't perfect.....best, the Ace....

hi Wayne.....are you presently working on anything of interest....best, Ace....

..........and please tell us, Alan, just what plan of attack did you employ to move the axle forward, and in doing so, could all the other front suspension part's still be used without altering them, or any other change's made as well that are not ' box stock'...best, the Ace...

Offbeat Places You Have Purchased Model Kits?
AC Norton replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
here in Canada we have a chain of book store's named ' COLES'.....they still exist today, but way back in the 60s up thru the early 80s they were big player's in hobby kit's, paint, glue, you name it. we lived across from a small plaza in the 60s and up to 1974, and lot's of my car model's were bought there,,, all the time actually. also, summer vacation of '69 we stopped at a small hardware store in a little village a couple hundred mile's from home camping, and in the window was the new AMT 69 Camaro pace car kit and the 69 AMX annual....I talked my dad into the AMX, and some copper spray paint, then proceeded to bang it together on a picnic table later that day...lol......the Ace.. -
I need you to stand over me with a whip, I get side tracked and work a bit here and there on other car's that are on the go as well. at one point paint will get done on the body once I choose a two tone deal I can settle on.......thanks for the encouragement ....the Ace...

boy, I AM gettin' old, sure looks black to me.....hell, give it a couple more year's it will look pink to me... lol...lol...glad you finished a wagon, mine, as usual, is getting dusty on the bench.......the Ace....

......black is a great color pick for this car,,,,,with injector's it would fall into a gas class, but not a M/P class, where injector's were not allowed and only carb combo's were legal.........the Ace...

.....Richard, this forum is a class act situation.....how dare you present dusty, unwashed model's for all to view here....lol..........please, for any future photo offering's, be certain they sparkle as to dazzle each forum viewer .....the Ace... -
......open the one you have, you will be pleasantly surprised.....even if someone need's MPC Vette engine or chassis part's and such to complete a restoration build, this kit is your ticket. I'll tell ya', if kit's weren't so pricey up here, I'd grab a couple more myself. if any of my local hobby store's put them on sale, I will get more..........the Ace...
-
......look at it this way, Gary....it would be nice to have for nostalgia reasons for certain, but if you like Vette's it is a pretty nice kit. the metal injector stacks and decal sheet are worth the money, IMO, and you guy's in the states have store's that discount kit's a lot of the time, so wait until then and grab one. I got mine when first released, and even though I paid full tilt for it, and up here that's over 40 bucks, I'm glad I have one....just a thought......the Ace....

Knafel Pontiac's 1970 Firebird "Tin Indian"
AC Norton replied to 59 Impala's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Dan, that's the reason I went with the box art blue/white colors way back when I built mine, the custom paint would have been very tough to duplicate. either way, it's going to be a very nice build for you. the only photo's I have seen of that car was a poor black and white pic that was actually sent to me from Knafel in the mid 90s, and, there was a set of early 70s bubble gum card's that included a rare color pic of the car in action. when I spoke to Mr. Knafel back then, he mentioned some of the detail's about that car of theirs, and that for class reason's, they went to AHRA event's where the rule's were different and a bit more lax than NHRA rule's. the only small detail's that may help are,,,,your plug wire's should be yellow, as ACCEL equipment was on the engine, Lakewood trac bars, also yellow in color, tach on dashboard, black interior, and Keystone wheel's, with flat black paint accent around the side of the spoke's, and around the lug center's to replicate them as Keystone Classic's....hope any of this may help....the Ace... -
....always liked this kit, yellow is a great color choice as well...nice.....the Ace..

Knafel Pontiac's 1970 Firebird "Tin Indian"
AC Norton replied to 59 Impala's topic in WIP: Model Cars
.......I built the same MPC ' bird as this car back about 20 years ago in the same paint scheme. the interesting aspect of it all is that the 70 GTO of Knafel fame was painted in this white/ blue paint scheme, but the 70 Firebird was actually a wild, multi colored custom paint job from any photo I researched back in the day. I also recall that it was a 4 speed car, with the 400 Ram Air engine, and it raced in AHRA competition in a class designated GT-2.......about all I can recall without digging thru pile's of paper that I would have to find. regardless, I loved mine and this build look's great and I'm looking forward to seeing it done....good choice of a very neat build......the Ace...., oh, I also recall the car sat on Keystone Classic wheel's, and Firestone Drag 500 rubber...
