  1. ....so, I owned the annual back in 1971 and loved it,,,,so my question is, does the yellow issue stand up to the annual in accuracy of body and interior details....I realize the annual had Cragars, slicks, other drag parts and such,,,but I seem to recall someone saying years ago the yellow car had a 72 interior, but I could be wrong here.....and mentioning 72 RRs, that would be the car that Round2 should consider spending on some retooling , if possible, as it seemed even harder to find way back in the day, at least in my area.....thanks to all, the Ace...
  2. I don't know how many I have, but I use them as a mixing pad for stirring and blending brush paints...lol........the Ace...
  3. .........glad you found something,,,,,since our little chat the other day, I cleared my bench and started a 66 Galaxie too, building an A/FX 427 sohc deal, like in the kit, and using the decals and such that come with the new kit. your project is quite a bit more ambitious, getting decals made, and then researching photos and building a 289 and all.....your car will be great , and I look forward to seeing it done. I'm going to pick away at this one of mine, and maybe in a month or so we may see a build..lol...lol........oh, one thing you probably know, Elvin, the Galaxie kit seems always to sit very low in the rear, so I fixed mine with some evergreen plastic blocks I made, re-drilled a plastic plate glued on each end of the diff, and shimmed all to fit, and give it a bit more height for slick clearance. the exhaust system will be in place, as the rules back then called for them to be there, but not hooked up, so some warm water bending and shaping seems to work fine....I mention this as I noticed the Terry car your building shows stock tail pipe tips, so some modifying will be the order of the day, I guess......I am using the big tube headers and all from the kit for my cammer,,,,but wonder what kit may have a nice set of 289 headers for your build, Elvin.....the Ace.....
  4. just my 2 cents.....a 71 car would be nice,,,,,however I think a reissued 72 car, old box, all parts, etc....would be a better move. with the different 71 kits around by Revell and the yellow MPC 71 still quite common, a 72 would fly off shelves. that 72 box art with the custom show car is appealing to many because it was an actual car, and the fact that 72 was about the last year for much in the way of true high performance options, even though they were luke warm compared to years prior. I had an original 71 RR kit new in late December of 1970, and liked it even more than the 72, but from a sales standpoint, I think it would give Round2 a real knockout here......lets hope either in original format may grace our collections soon regardless....the Ace....
  5. dynamite, just plain dynamite....outstanding example of a fan favorite at the strip, and from the hobby shop......the Ace.....
  6. .....one of my friends back in the early 70s had your build as his actual car, when my pals and yours truly all had a different muscle cars coming and going constantly. still hear the wrap of those Z28 solid lifters even now.....loved his car, love your build too, Gary....nice piece..the Ace....
  7. ....I like them, too, but never really studied up on them. regardless, as you know, both the 65-66 AMT kits are quite nice to use for any combo here, with just about all included to rip into one. however, if Elvin here wants to achieve this car mentioned, then he will have to dig up a nice 289 with all the goodies needed, because I think a C class fx'er was a small block......the Ace....
  8. you were probably on the same page I found, and oddly enough, I can't recall other pics or info that I have seen over the years on that particular car...classed in C/FX was I bet a 289 small block effort.....the Ace...
  9. just google Ed Terry vintage drag Fords....if that hit does not show one, each photos will each take you to more photos , and searching thru should get one......I will check thru some now and get back to you, Elvin...the Ace......./////// google ED TERRY FORD DRAG CARS.....just one picture is down on the seventh row, a small one of the car you ask about. the 66 C/fx Galaxie,,,,,but searching around sites even more should get more results too....hope this helps....looks like all white with some basic lettering, easy to build one, I would think....the Ace...
  10. thanks, Gordon, for your comment here....best, the Ace...
  11. .......I love it....have 2 of them in the pile,,,now I'm inspired...great truck,,,the Ace...
  12. ....I haven't found out anything about this question here....anybody else jump in if you can enlighten us...........the Ace...
  13. thanks both Donald and Anthony for your feedback....much appreciated....the Ace....
  14. Joe, Joe, Joe, buddy.....you're knocking us out here....again....that's a sweetheart if I ever saw one....been pawing the same kit myself the last few days...an all time fave of mine ....but THAT car of your looks just killer.....great work, the Ace......
  15. boy, does that look tough, Joe.....she's a little monster.....I love it......the Ace....
  16. Dave, they say great minds think alike.....usually model guys too,,,,lol,,,,,......best, the Ace....
  17. .....and Mike, that's the whole point of it all...to have FUN and enjoy the trip. the fun sometimes gets lost in the shuffle when a project becomes tedious or very difficult. I built the LRW about 15 years ago, right out of box with little in extras and it was a quick, fun build, and at one point, may build another with more detail....it's a neat kit......best, the Ace....
  18. gee, I don't see a talent issue there....so far all looks pretty crisp to me....that will be killer once finished, Mike.....best, the Ace...
  19. Mike, I have really wanted to, however I just can't seem to go that far,,,,,I pick up the box, caress it for a moment, run my fingers down the edges of the cello, gawk at the artwork on all sides,,,smile in a almost trance like-state, then chicken out every time....lol...lol........the Ace...
  20. the 68 RR I posted in the drag section is an example of all you stated, Richard.......one can correct the many areas that stink, but that's if you want to put in tons of work as you say, which I for the most part did not. Johan bodies can't be beat generally, and it baffles me that after all these years of kit production, and all of todays technology that so many are so far off to what many 60s- 70s era kits seem to be. as for a Johan 69 GTX, I have a sealed one I bought last spring, but probably will never build it....they are stupid money these days, and if I told you what I paid, you'd think I lost my mind,,,,I think bidding that day I must have for a moment...lol...lol........the Ace
  21. .......outstanding,,,,simply outstanding.........the Ace....
  22. no question.....the Johan 69 RR body is as good as it gets. the car just built to moderate detail and sitting on the table looks great...since 69, I have probably built a dozen of them over the years, and it is still an all time fave of mine. the AMT 68 drag RR I just built is a nice kit, in some ways, but the body, tail lights, and general appearance compared to the Johan 69 does not come close. be a long time before I build my second AMT 68, so grabbing a couple Johan 69s is at the top of the hit list.....the Ace....
  23. .......like Smokey sang,,, ' I second that emotion'..........the Ace....
  24. ....well, guess I will throw in my 2 cents.....everyone has different tastes, interests, and even reasons for buying , building, or collecting the kits they enjoy. everyone also builds to the level that suits them in most cases as well, so that being said, the older MPC and AMT reissues are quite exciting to many guys who like that particular vehicle, and have a personal attachment to it for one reason or another. ease of building to achieve a fairly quick yet pleasing result has appeal to many, but if rivet counting and micro measuring each part in order to critique it for the rest of one's life is your bag, maybe that guy should buy something else. moreover, the reissues by RC2 are a true blessing for many of us, and if molded in exhaust, or an incorrect seat pattern are an area that MUST be changed to satisfy some builders, then just buy one of the many, many other kits to correct your dilemma. that way, the industry gets supported from every angle, and that way more reissue's will come out for the rest of us that are happy as hell to get all we can......the Ace.....
  25. typical Revell.....wouldn't have one of their kits in my place......the Ace....
