OK. You have my apologies on the negative reaction. I'm very proud AND protective of my status as a veteran, and ALL veterans for that matter. Yes, I agree with the public service sector getting the ye olde' screwgie . particularly during an election cycle. I served my time in the Green Machine, and I didn't feel like I was a free loader. I'm not qualified to speak on teaching matters, other than back in the day trying to drive afew of them nuts in class. I served during the first Gulf War. 3rd Inf. Div. Combat Engineers. We can build stuff and blow it up with equal skill.

Maybe, but he needs to clarify. He's a big boy. Lets hear what he has to say. If he is trying to be ironic, its in POOR taste. He can feel free to PM me on this matter if he would care to discuss it further, but I've said my peace.

Don't get you started on the Military??? Mr. Myers, I don't have a knock against teachers, it is (or was) a noble carrier, and a pretty darned important one, but when you start lumping in the military as some kind of free loaders. I take SERIOUS offense to that Sir!!! There is NO teaching job on this planet that I've seen that require you to swear an oath and write the Government a blank check that can at any time be cashed for UP TO, and INCLUDING your LIFE!!! Yes, they get clothing and housing and food, but there is this truth that when one joins the military, YOU ARE GENERAL ISSUE. You are no longer an individual, you are Government property. No longer in control of your individual life. You don't get to call off when you have a bad day, or hit the snooze button and sleep in.You go where ordered, you fight where/when/ how you are ordered and there are no unions or committee's to argue the merits of this or that policy You are there to PRESERVE democracy, not PRACTICE it . The military is required to maintain its "equipment" i.e. troops, tanks, guns, bullets, bombs, ect... Your arguments over teaching matters is your own. I'm sure there's enough bad to balance out the good in your field as well, but as a vet, I don't appreciate being lumped into the "free loader" category. If I remember correctly, your a U.S. Navy veteran, As a vet, you should know better.

There is nothing wrong with tuners that i see. I like some of the Japanese tuners. They look pretty cool. Just about the only car style i can't really find anything to like about is the "Donk". I hope that fad goes away quietly..... I love all the older cars, but i can still appreciate a well build modern one too. -
Never mind. I got a closer look at the pics.

I did see your gasser build. That turned out sweet!! Did you chop the front frame rails and add your own rails? Or did you go with the stock front frame?

AMT 1/25 '64 Chevy Impala
bismarck replied to ANovaScotian's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Depending on what release you get of the revell kit, Its a 2 in 1 . Stock or low rider. The Revell kit is much better than the AMT kit. Opening hood and trunk, separate frame and exhaust. Better parts count. MUCH better detailing. The Revell kit has the benefit of being a newer mold than the AMT 64. The AMT kit is still a good kit, but for finer details, the Revell has it hands down. IMO. -

No worries man. Like I said , I'm a self confessed Dinosaur. I use tech as just a tool.I think at one time Bill did post pictures of it quite awhile back. If I remember it right, it had a tarp partially covering it, being held down by a rather disinterested cat. Am I close on that Bill? It was a pretty cool looking project if I recall. A low slung job with rear engine(?). -

Me either. And people taking pictures of their food and posting it?? Really?? The wife facebooks, and some of the stuff she runs across really makes me fear for this country's future..... -

Please don't confuse the fact that I don't use tech with the ASSUMPTION I am not familiar WITH it. I use it every day in my job. I work in logistics for a company that ships goods all over the face of the planet and I have to be able to track shipments in real time. Our main office is in Tokyo, Japan. And yes, if your not on the tech wagon, you will most certainly be left behind. That's how the world works now. That being said. In my PRIVATE life I do not CARE for being wired into all the social media stuff. Some people are not comfortable outside of that world. Tech does not rule, and will never rule, my life. I could unplug tomorrow and be perfectly happy. When I come home from work, that high tech world does not exist. Its just something that I do from 9-5, its not my life. I have an entire room full of plastic that the wife thinks IS my life though. -

Yeah. That sums me up pretty well. Smart phones just don't interest me. Nor does Facebook, twitter, or any of the other social media. I'm a dinosaur and never took to computers and technology, I admit it. I'm only 44 years old, but I don't have an obsessive need to share every little detail of my private life, or learn anyone else's via smartphone or any other social media. Yes, it has all kinds of uses for everyone else, just not for me. I can see where it has advantages for older folks too. Convenience being a huge reason. I stay to myself and out of the social media foodfights that seem to rage over some of the stupidest things. No Thanks. My private life is just that. Private. That, and I can build kits in peace and quiet without the phone dinging, whistling , burping, or whatever the dang thing does to get my attention... -
... My 401K is gonna HATE me.....LOL!!

I remember reading the article about the debut of his SCCA Camaro at the Daytona track. The Fords were out qualifying that day, and he rolls up and wants to make a few runs. The Tech inspectors pounced all over the car, The pit guy told Smokey " There's too much wrong with this car to list." Well Smoke told him, "Well add one more thing to your ##**"!! list!!", dropped the fuel cell out on the ground, and drove back to his shop!!! A little while later, he drove back and picked his fuel cell back up. He had used aircraft grade quick disconnect fittings on the fuel cell for easy install/ removal. He had driven back to his shop on the other side of town with only the gas in the oversized fuel lines on the car!! Ya gotta love the guy for having the stones to pull a stunt like that!!! A Tech inspectors worst nightmare!! LOL!!
