60's styled 2005 "RETRO-VETTE" COUPE
Custom Hearse replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks great Dave, but you need to do something with the back half of the car, Maybe a racing stripe or something, just to break up the yellow a little bit, especially the taillight panel. It looks a little bulky.... Other than that, it looks fantastic!!!! -
Those are really cool wheels!!!! Where can I get a set of those? I'd like some for the Mer-Rodder I'm building. Do he make other styles? and will they fit the Revell pro street tires? I can't wait to see how your GTX comes out. Good luck with this build, and the competition!

Digital camera choices????
Custom Hearse replied to roadhawg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My camera of choice is the Canon Power Shot A620 7.2 mega pixel. It gets really nice close up shots.... This is an inside shot of a Jo-Han Heavenly Hearse I took with it.... And another one.... This is the front of the hood.... And a close up of a wheel.... It also has video capabilities. You can try to see if you can find one used from a friend or pawn shop. I got this one from a friend for $75.00 -

The Mer-Rodder 1934 500K street rod
Custom Hearse replied to Custom Hearse's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The idea is not mine. I saw a model of a '32 Chrysler (I think) with a V-12 Viper engine (that I do remember) in one of the model magazines, and I thought that would be something I'd like to do. When my friend gave this kit to me, I thought COOL!, time to do one. Thanks Erik! I've got an AMT Allison V-12 that I've thought about using in this build. Or I could build a supercharged Hemi V-12 using 2 Revell engines (done it before, but not without some difficulty). It's also been suggested by Jody to use a supercharged Lincoln V-12 flathead engine. If I could get my hands on one, I'd definitely do that! -

I e-mailed John this morning and asked him about it. Here is his reply.... From: John Greczula <john@autoworldcatalog.com> To: <customhearse@V8email.com> Subject: Re: suggestions Date: Wed 02/25/09 11:08 AM We're always interested in what people want to see reissued. But like I always say, no promises. It's not like we don't already have a million ideas of our own, we just want to let everybody know we do take outside feedback into consideration. Odd Rodd?
Custom Hearse replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
O.K. I've started this one (I couldn't wait ). I've named it the Mer-Rod, and I've posted it on the under construction forum. If you like, I'm still taking suggestions on what to do on this build, and I want to thank everyone who has made a suggestion here. -
The Mer-Rodder 1934 500K street rod
Custom Hearse replied to Custom Hearse's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Here's the work I've done so far on this build. I started by cutting the interior and pro street tubs apart, and putting them together.... This is the underside of them put together.... I measured them and then put them together, and I also reshaped the pro street tubs to the body. This should keep the wheels inside, but leave a little tire sticking out.... I then cut the frame to fit onto the new interior floor pan, and the pro street framework.... This is where I'm at so far with it.... If anyone has any ides they want to share that I can add to this, feel free to add them! Thanks for looking! -
This is a build that I was asking for opinions about in the General Topics section on this forum. I decided to start on it after getting some ideas from several people here. It's a Jo-Han 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K kit GC-234. Here's some pictures of part of the kit and pieces that I will be using.... This is the kit box.... The body with the fenders. The number one suggestion was to build it without the fenders. I like that idea, so the fenders will be gone.... The body and the hood are nice pieces. They had some flash, and some mold lines that had to be gotten rid of, but they weren't too bad.... The hood has these exhaust holes in it, so I've decided to cut the sides of the hood off.... I'll have to do a lot of cutting to get the interior floor pan out, and get rid of the fenders, but I also want to keep the front edges of the inside fenders so I can mount the radiator grill.... And the back of the frame will have to be cut off to mount pro street tubs and frame to the stock frame.... Here's the frame from the Revell '67 Chevy pro street kit, ready to be chopped off.... On the next post, I'll show everyone what I've done so far.

Odd Rodd?
Custom Hearse replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, the general consensus is to lose the fenders.... I like that idea! It'll take some work, but it can be done. I've decided to cut open the doors as well as scratch build a fastback roof for it. I also plan to get rid of the hood sides. If I can't find a Lincoln V-12 flathead (thanks for the info Bill, I'll look and see if I can find one), I'll go ahead and use the Allison I already have (if anyone has another suggestion for the engine, let me know). I just have a few small thing to finish on the Monza kit I was building and I'll do this one next. Thanks for the input guy's! -
How about some inspiration?
Custom Hearse replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've never owned this kit (nor a 1:1, durn shuckings), so I've never seen the front bumper for one. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I'm a little scatter brained!!!! -

Custom Hearse replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've never weathered a model before, so I don't think I'll start with this kit.... I'll try that with something that I'm not worried about. Where in the world could I find a Lincoln flat head V-12? That might be pretty cool! -

The company is owned by Tom Lowe, John Gerczula, and Tony Karamitsos, owners of Round 2 Models, and they are the supplier of AMT kits. I have 2 of their kits, the AMT Digger 'Cuda, and the AMT 1960 Ford Starliner. Here's a link to there AMT/MPC kits that they are distributing.... http://www.round2models.com/models/amt Bill Coulter talked to the owners and photographed them at the iHobby show for Model Cars Magazine in the November 2008-issue #136 pp. 25. Looks awesome Len! I like that you decided to forgo the usual black and white paint scheme. The red really sets it off! Looking forward to your next update! -
A friend of mine gave me this kit to see what I would turn it into. I was thinking maybe a street rod with pro street tires, and an Allison V-12.... Any other ideas anyone want to share?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does it have two rear bumpers? -
The Bare Metal Foil looks awesome! You've done an excellent job on this build. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

That looks awesome Rodney! Nice job on the frame. Michael and I have the same situation.... Mines screaming at me too!
